When you guys picked up Adam Thomson from the Power i thought it was a brilliant move for his career. I expected him to be in the best 22 and perform but this hasn't happened yet and i can't help but wonder why?

As a Sturt supporter i saw a lot of him over the past few seasons he was playing in the SANFL and he looked like a quality player. Won the contested ball, was composed with the footy and rarely seemed to make a mistake. I figured the only reason he wasn't getting a game at Port was because Choco would rather play his favourites.

Does he have an attitude problem or is he just not that good?

A poor pick up imo. He isn't even knocking on the door of the team. Players like Edwards are much more impressive at VFL. He is what 23/24? and he isn't even in 25 man squads or in the emergencies. He has played over a month of VFL footy, no injury excuses anymore

Saw him live for coburg on saturday and gave me no reason to get excited. Just seems to plod along. Nothing special. Depth player.

Did he get many touches? Isn't exactly the most exciting player to watch but gets the job done. I'd liken him to having similar attributes to Jobe Watson in the way he'll get in, win the ball and handball it off to the quicker more skillful players (in your case Cousins and co)

Not a lot. Like I said, nothing special here.

So far he looks very average. No wonder Port were smiling happily when they got a 3rd rounder for him.

showed a lot in his pre season game against Collingwood but injured his sternum shortly after. seemed to be labouring in the game on the weekend so perhaps he's still carrying something. with Coughlan coming good and Cotchin coming back into the team I think his options maybe very limited until the last third of the season.

He hasnt had the best start but im a fan and I think once he gets in the team he wont come out again. At the moment its hard to see him coming in too soon with Cousins, Cotchin and most likely Edwards will come back in the next few weeks. His best bet would be for Jackson to start playing shit or Tuck get injured.

Thomson and Tom Hislop are both being played out of positions at Coburg. They should both be playing 75% of the game on the the ball. They are both natural midfielders and are both being played in other positions.

Another waste of a pickup by the tigers, Thomson, Hislop, McMahon. You have become a dumping ground and teams come to you because they know you're stupid enough to give them something in return.

Ackland, Pfeiffer, Hadley, etc etc etc. **** up.

very happy with the recruiting of slops and thomson
wouldnt worry about peanuts who are writing them off after not breaking into the side in the first 6 rounds of thier first year at the club
just laugh and keep watching could be very handy

Can't handle the truth Cormick? We have a horrible trading and drafting history.
You would say that, cos' you're a negative ****er. Whether or not we do or don't is irrelevant. That a Carlton fan, clearly trolling, thinks he can bring up some trades of ours is what got to me. But you might note, Barnzy, that Tambling (yes, the much maligned Tambling who "should be kept permanantly in the VFL, or "should at least be made to play a few games there, no matter of his form) was our best on Sunday. You might also note that some of our best players in recent years have been "inspired" draft choices. Tuck came from Hawthorn; I'll bet in his first year, smug opposition fans would bring him up as a flop. Raines was pick 74 from the same draft as Tuck, pick 71. Foley and Moore were rookies. Newman was pick 55, Coughlan pick 24 and McGuane pick 36 (ish). We traded for Simmonds, Brown and Johnson, all of whom have turned out to be very good pick ups for us. Sure, we picked Fiora 10 years ago. What club in the last 10 years hasn't made a mistake or two?

Are you seriously going to sit here and defend our drafting and trading history? Just admit it's been terrible. I can assure you there has been much more than a 'mistake or two' but cbf going through it all cause it would take way too long.

:)Both guys were recruited to add depth ... in my opinion, that's what they're doing.

Should Tuck, Jackson, Cousins or Foley go down, I'd be confident having either of the two in there.

I'm certain both are midfielders but are being utilised elsewhere due to needs and other players being available.

Coburg's midfield boasted Cotchin and Cousins on the weekend .. walk up starts for a midfield role at Richmond either this week or next!

Raines has hardly been a success, Tuck and Foley for all their good qualities still have serious deficiencies. Tambling is yet to prove himself worthy to stay on the list past 2009, 2 good games in a whole career doesn't cut it. Simmonds, Brown and Johnson can't even get a game at the moment. How many more draft pick successes can you name?

Oh so true. But then again, Brett Kirk has some serious defeciencies, Robert Harvey couldn't kick over 30m, Scott West was slow and couldn't kick and Matthew Richardson deosn't tackle. It's a matter of perspective. Oh yeah, Ablett won't be able to get a game next week. Shit, he must be a dud. For 3 years, Simmonds was a gun for us. And we gave up Fiora. Johnson has consistently finished top 3 in the B+F, and Brown, even you must admit, emo as you are, has been a gun for us.

So now the pissweak argument that "he has deficiencies" has been broken down, as some of the best players of the last 15 years have had glaring ones, it's time to change tact. In all honesty, I cbf. I really don't care that you're negative and I ain't in regards to Richmond.

When did I shift the whole argument to player deficiencies? I was just replying to you in saying those picks which are the only ones you can name as successes aren't as good as you think. Were talking about our drafting and trading history here which I say is poor and you obviously think it's been good. It's okay though, run away Corma.

There is no such thing as a perfect player. Gary Ablett was selfish. Richo doesn't tackle, etc etc etc. Brett Kirk is a worse kick than Foley and Tuck, and yet is a bona fide star. It's ridiculous to pick out people's deficiencies if they're good players.
