12 tests and a batting average of 85.
(comparison - m.hussey after 12 tests averaged 76).

9 ducks in a row will see his average dip back to 50.

with age not on his side and not a long time left in the game , will voges go down in history as one of the greats and end up with a batting average of 50+?

I love Voges, I am so happy that he's doing well.

But we have to take his stats with a HUGE grain of salt. He's beaten up on a horrible, horrible side and didn't do much in conditions where he should have stood up for us in England. But well done to him for doing well here.

Yes, Voges will go down as one of the all time greats.

We'll be telling our grand children about how Adam Voges belted the legendary Windies side of 2015 all round the park, in a crucial make or break test match with his team desperate for a hero.

Please, stop.

He made three tonnes against the worst test side in 50 years and against NZ on a road.

He failed when we most needed him in the Ashes so no.

just playing devils advocate here.

and he did fail during the ashes but was not the only one. in saying that he didnt cost us the ashes, the poor batting and getting rolled for 60 probably did.

on a side note, voges also has one of australia's best records in odi cricket and when opportunities presented, grabbed them with both hands, only to be overlooked for the world cup squad.

With the exception of his debut 130*, he has tended to profit greatly from some easy wickets/poor opposition.

That does say something about his ability to concentrate for long periods, but I'm not sure how much stock I'd place in these particular centuries besides that.

So did everyone else. Not a lot of batsmen are making runs when you get rolled for 130 and 60. No point singling anyone out.

He'd have to play a heap of Tests with a huge average to get "great" status. I think we have South Africa and Pakistan next year. Do well there then he'll lift in everyone's absolute "star status" estimation.

Hussey's first 3 Test's were against a similarly shit West Indies, but then his next 6 Tests were against South Africa, home and away. That's true opposition.

He hasn't even made 30 first class centuries yet, lets be serious.

A bloke who averages 46 after a decade and a half of first class cricket doesn't suddenly become Sir Donald Bradman overnight. His average is grossly inflated at present due to a combination on largely playing against abysmal bowling attacks and batting on the most docile of wickets.

He's a good, solid player and nothing else.

Voges has been a favourite of mine, but in no way shape or form should he go down as a great. He won't even go down as a great for WA in my book.

I agree that Voges has filled his boots against weak opposition and on very batter friendly pitches; not his fault, mind you, he's not a curator and doesn't set the schedules.

That said, I think he might end up being underrated because people will dismiss the value of his runs. Would be nice to see what he's truly capable of; the away series in NZ and series against the Saffers and Pakis should give us a better idea.

He'll go down as one of those guys who debuted too late. He's been around Australian squads for years and always acquitted himself well in ODIs, but other than the last Shield season where he averaged 100 his performances were just not quite enough for a guy in his late 20s to early 30s to be noticed.

His average is skewed by 6 not outs from 18 innings, but he's still scored over 1000 runs at 57 per innings. He's had some very favourable conditions (like all of our batsmen) but it's not like he's come in at 3/400 each innings.

Had a disappointing Ashes so needs to play in some decent tests in NZ, RSA etc. to show he's not just a flat track bully. I do get the feeling Khawaja and Burns are getting a bit more appreciation but they're beating up on an equally feeble opponent.
