Anyone got it and what do you think?

Hang out and see how Telstra's layer 2 dsl goes when it's released. It will be resold by other providers under their own branding as well. I think you'll find it cheaper than the current offerings.

Currently dsl is not as quick as cable. The maximum bandwidth on dsl in Oz is 1.5mb AND it's expensive.

Cable is theoretically 19mb but that depends on how many people are attached to the cable in your street. If you are the only one connected then you won't have to share the bandwidth, if there's two of you connected then you share the bandwidth etc.

I dont find the price too bad. Deleting the 2nd phone line and current ISP actually works out a bit cheaper.

Waiting for price to drop.
Frame relay at work helps with downloads etc, Dial up ISP at home for browsing etc.

No huge rush - especially with prices the way they are, and look like being for quite some time yet.

I just happened to be looking into adsl today through Telstra. I came to the conclusion that adsl is far too expensive at the moment. The benifits look great, but the price is insane !

Be aware that Telstra has had very bad stability problems with their ADSL network. I think the problem was with their DSLAM's even though they have said it's authentication......pffft! You don't necessarily authenticate with DSL depending on the plan).

When they release their layer 2 network hopefully it will be far more stable.

I've heard a lot of good reports about Netspace, it would be worth giving them a call (I don't work for them btw....or have any dealings with them).
