Interesting to hear Boyd saying that up until he was 15 was playing mainly ruck, if I was Giles I would be a tad worried with Boyd being able to play in the ruck and us drafting Lobb

The 200cm power forward from the Eastern Ranges TAC Cup team revealed how he has modelled his game on fellow key big men Tippett and Geelong spearhead Tom Hawkins.
"They are almost a new breed of taller kind of guys," Boyd said.
"I've definitely spent a lot of time watching them and there are plenty of traits that I would love to emulate from their games.
"Kurt (Tippett) and Tom Hawkins are the main ones I've looked at being those tall powerful forwards rather than a (Matthew) Pavlich or a (Jarryd) Roughead who are a little bit smaller.
"If I could be half as good as those guys I would be pretty stoked."
Another parallel with Tippett could be his ability to play as a back-up ruckman.
The departure of Shane Mumford to the Giants means Tippett is highly likely to spend time in the ruck and if Leon Cameron needs Boyd to play a similar role he is happy to oblige.
"I rucked all my junior years until I was 15 when I was shifted forward," Boyd said.
"Tippett is a great example of the forward who can ruck. He injects himself into the game by getting himself around the ball and in the ruck contests which is something I've found really helpful for me.

See, I don't see anything impressive in any of his videos. Just him marking over people that are 10cm shorter than he is. I literally don't know what the fuss is about. But if he has towelled up FBs that have been drafted to the AFL recently then that is fine. Any advantages he has a "junior" footballer due simply to his size is nullified at the AFL level.

spoke to mitch honeychurch last year and he was friends with tom,siad he was very well grounded and desrved to monika no1 draft choice.as he works hard and has confidence in his own ability.



please ask him has he noticed the difference in players that have 3 preseasons under thier belt and does he think his body will see out the first year without having to have a rest.
