Still getting the game, always can return it if I don't like it.

Do you start the career at a TAC Cup club and have to work your way up, or can I straight away manage Richmond?

You can go straight into any club you like, but if you choose to go straight into an AFL club your player will be very low ranked, need to join a lower league so you can 'train' you stats up and get them to AFL standard... or get you arse handed to you :p

Do you have to stay in the TAC or VFL for a few years to get on the same level as AFL players or is it just 1 year in TAC, 1 in VFL and then you are good enough?

Seeing as it doesn't get released for a week and some people have only had it for a few hours it may be real early to be asking these questions though.

enjoying it much better then afl live graphics not as good but game play much better

Really? Interesting.

People have talked about the set shot goal kicking being much improved. Can someone please explain how the set shot banana kicks work? I'm curious :)

I honestly would have preferred it if they gave the game 6 months more development and released it next year just before the season starts.
yeah I agree extra dev time the game would be more polished etc

Beams and Swan have their tatts.

I really like how the ball bounces and the fact that you can crumb the ball of a contest alot better now. Hurley went for a speckie but it bounced off his hands and Winderlich ran on seamlessly and kicked a pretty cool goal.

*Positives

+ Good flow and not as much of a tackle fest
+ Handballing is excellent, animations good also
+ Kicking mechanics are good
+ Unpredictable bounces
+ Good pre game options (adjusting crowd size, day/night/twilight)
+ Running onto loose bouncing balls is great
+ Career options looking good so far
+ Marking animations and mechanics improved
+ Spoiling
+ Evasive animations around the contest aren't bad
+ Some player models look pretty good in the footy factory (namely the superstars)
+ Back line players can properly "mop up" after an inside 50 entry. They actually have space down there and they work to help each other out when the ball hits the deck, so now they actually get touches and the forwards arn't always breathing down their necks constantly tackling them.

*Negatives

- Graphics
- Some of the player movements are just downright ugly
- Kicking animations look pretty wonky
- Some player models (especially the ones outside of your teams best 22) will look downright ridiculous at times (Hocking has a goatee WTF?)
- Pretty bad presentation (no pre game, celebrations, team songs, or post game cutscenes)
- Menus are a step back

I focused more on the positives then the negatives here, but the game isn't nearly as bad as I was expecting, they've done well for a 12 month developent cycle thats for sure, this is also just a rough list after playing it for an hour or so.

I'm still thinking of trading this back purely because of GTA V coming out soon, otherwise i'd probably keep it.

Anyone hear that annoying crowd Cheer every time the home team takes a mark or kicks a goal

And what's with the free kicks? Ill get someone holding the ball and its a delayed reaction I have to wait for someone to touch the ball. Also are there even high tackles in this?

it's sad to see people saying they will trade it in tomorrow. once you get used to the controls it's alot of fun seeing your favorite team win. or going through career mode. it might not be fifa or NBA2k but it's fun. and in 6 mouths when footy season is about to start and we have the new graphics update it will be even better. if this game doesn't sell we may never get another afl game again.

Because the game includes the advantage rule. If you catch someone holding the ball and another one of your players picks the ball up you will get the advantage and can play on from there.

Anyone who is keen like me in Melbourne

JB Hi Fi Elizabeth street have stacks of copies and are open until 9pm
JB Hi Fi Bourke do not have their stock
EB Games Swanston also have stacks!

Any chance anyone could upload another video of the game? Preferably with a better camera angle? I'd love to have more of a look at it.

Before we all go getting refunds, just consider this.

There are very few companies who have the balls to take on an AFL game. At least these guys gave it a go and the result isn't too bad. If we support them by buying their games then who knows, we might be playing an incredible AFL game in a few years.

I'm getting the impression that this game isn't really a sequel, more a foundation title to build from later on.

The fact that Tru Blu have created their own development team for this game tells me that they're not going to make one game and then ditch it UNLESS the game doesn't sell.

What we need to do is support the game and look at the positives and after a few titles Tru Blu will gather feedback and sort out the negatives

I thought BA wanted to do it but then and TruBlu couldn't come to agreements. Atleast we know BA would put their heart into it because they're footy fanatics, wicked witch looked like they were just looking for a cheap buck.

We said that about the BigAnt game. Had this been a sequel made by BigAnt and released a year from now, I think we'd be fairly impressed with the outcome rather than settling for "this is all we have, let's not be too harsh".
