could also have camera in change rooms looing at individual players whilst reading the team out.
somewhere where it says how much ground time the player has had and how effective he hasbeen would also be good.
But the best thing apart from trading , mark and goal of the year, Would have to be a special mic that you could have to listen to coaches addresses , or messages brought out by the runner (instructions you have given to certain individuals) and you could listen to verbal (non swearing) between umpires and players. etc etc
Just a thought.

- i think that there should be a franchise mode that allows u to b in control of your favorite team e.g gernal manger, coach

- After each season there should be a trade week

-Have a pre-season draft where delisted players and free agents can be picked up.

- Have the International Rules series

-Include other grounds such as Telstra Stadium, York Park, Manuka oval and Marrara oval

-Could include state of orgin

-have a national draft(made up players):D

I have already asked them about the suspension issue and fighting. They said they are unable to have it because of licensing isses. They do not want to incourage rough play into our game :)

Well

ACCLAIM should give up on sport games like afl 2004 live and pass it onto EA SPORTS im sure they could make the game #@%@%# loads better, but afl live still not a bad little game.

I hear you perthboy. For those who want to see where an afl game could go if EA sports created one check out Madden 2004. The most realistic sport game from gameplay to management that I have ever seen.

Imagine if we could play AFL games in owner/president mode allowing us to hire coaches make trades even choose where to play home games. I would thrive on an AFL game that allows us to do that.

But if Acclaim do keep making AFL games I agree with most that they should test them before release. The first bug that looks really stupid to get rid of is the ability to take a hanger over mr nobody. The players hang in the air and a guy 50meters away stumbles.

All these things would be good, but there are two things which, in my mind at least ,would take it from good to a classic.

Firstly, they could do much more with the season mode.

I'd love to see development of players over the year. So, if you take a raw rookie and give him more game time, he'll gradually improve in the position he gets the most time- if that were the case, it'd add a tactical edge to it, because you'd be put in the same situation as a real coach- having to choose between putting your best 22 out on the park, or trying to develop into a better side over the season.

This would be doable from a code point of view- just allow players ability to upgrade or degrade in certain abilities depending on what stats they get of- if a player tackles a lot in a game, he'll get better at it, if he runs out 4 quarters, his stamina will improve after a few weeks.
By the same token, though, if a forward kicks 0.6 one game, he could get an attack of the yips for a few rounds, if a midfielder starts racking up the clangers, he'll lose form.
This would make it all seem a lot more real, and make the season more than just playing 22 games with the same side week in week out- young guys would get game time for development, stalwarts would go in and out of the team depending on their form.

This was the first thing that sprang to mind for me.

Another small consequence of this: Players returning from injuries do not have as high stats.

Another idea: Also have the reserve team. You don't have to play it (although, it could be an option), but it generates results and in form players, giving you more food for thought when selecting your senior side.

Another idea: Have a "nous/wisdom/smarts/intelligence" attribute. This would be more for the computer controlled players (on your team as well as the opposition). Players with more nous would be better at finding space, reading the play to get into a good position to help out defensively or offensively, among others.

Perhaps there could also be a "one-percenter" attribute, which goes towards how good players are at spoiling, smothering, shepherding, etc.

To have an international rules option, wouldn't they have to include a patch to adjust the game for IR mode?

Other than that... create your own league, build your own stadium, Eddie McGuire shooting gall... oops that one slipped out. Heh heh heh... :p

Joking about that last bit but having the other two options would be sweet.

You've got to be joking. The EA AFL games were the most pathetic, buggy pieces of crap ever released for PC. I tried using AFL 99 as a drink coaster, but its so unstable i worry its gonna crash my coffee cup...
