So, as many of us here are avid video gamers, The Australian community has been screaming for a decent AFL game since the inception of home consoles. Many attempts were created, some passable and some absolutely pathetic (AFL Live 2005 anyone?)

Many of us were happy with AFL live 1. Even though it could have been improved, the base of a solid franchise was there. BigAnt communicated that they future installments would improve and we would finally see an AFL game that everyone could be proud of playing.

Now, we all know what happened from there. BigAnt were shown the door and the next installment for consoles was nothing short of a port of the Wii version, developed by Wicked Witch.

Tru Blue really dropped the ball on getting rid of BigAnt and I feel it's time to let them know how much we want BigAnt to return for the next AFL game.

I think a bombardment of emails to them about how much we, as consumers want BigAnt to return for the next installment.

Now, I'm not quite sure on which department to email in regards to this and True Blue's website hasn't been updated for over a year (AFL live 2 isn't even up on their page,) but their conatct information is here: http://www.trublu.com.au/newsite/infopages.php?pagerequest=contact.

Let's start something and let our voices heard.

AFL live 2003 was the best, sadly:(

I'd just be happy if they built on from AFL live 1, I've played that game a lot, and enjoyed it the more hours I've put into it, as it really seemed to change as I got better and played it the way it was supposed to be played (e.g. using the default camera to move backwards to an open man behind the play rather than always trying to grind forward. Or instead of chasing the ball carrier on defense switching to a ruckman or mid not in the play to run behind the play to become a loose back that can intercept the AI's inside 50 kick. Or doing a little spin move to get around the AI in a one-on-one) Such a shame this game wasnt built on. To me AFL live 2 was a slap in the face.

I haven't been up to date on the world of AFL games but weren't RedAnt much liked around these parts? I swear an Admin of theirs used to actually post here and hear out our opinions.. did the footy games lose any momentum they were building once RedAnt were dismissed?

Yes I agree. Is the AFL Live 3 cover on aflgaming.com.au a fake?

Tru Blu and Bigant should team up again for AFL Live 3. The AFL Live 3 game should be improved through the afl live 1 game engine.
Cut scenes should be added to make use of player graphics. (The only time you actually see the players close enough to see their player likeness is when the full back is in dissarray when the goal umpire makes his signal and the national anthem on anzac round, finals) The referees should be official with likeness.
There should be a simplified version of ultimate team. (No team of the week or in form cards)
They should also make the season a stats paradise. You should be able to compare spoils, inside 50s, hitouts, disposals, behinds ect not just kicks, handballs, tackles, marks and goals. Should show the coaches in the box or at the bench depending who they are (Ken hinkley box whereas mick malthouse bench)
Also make it so that kicks can be powered before the player even picks up the ball to stop all the rushed kicks that go 2 meters in the air. Add multiple bounce to the ball so it doesn't just roll along the ground after one bounce at impact. Team banners, crowd attendance numbers, onfield commentary with a range of channel 7 commentators. Brian Taylor, Dennis commetti, tom harley, bruce Mcavaney, Leigh Matthews, Luke Darcy and side field commentators Matthew Richardson and Cameron Ling.
weather should change as the match progresses. (Sunny at the start, clouds gradually roll over, rainy at the end) You should not have to let go of the sprint button to bounce the ball, the player can just automatically slow down to bounce the ball. Instead the Ai player should have to press a button to bounce the ball. Such as square on ps3. Adopt the follow the ball mode previously used on afl live 2 whereby keeping down L2 allows your controlled player to automatically run in the direction of the ball. This would allow for the ball to bounce on realistic angles without it being to hard to pick up the direction that the ball is travelling. There should also be suspensions for striking, high bumps and other dangerous play. I would also like to see a decent brownlow medal board where at the end of the season their is a brownlow event where a stimulation occurs on the screen which shows one by one each match of each round and who polled votes. and also have an accessible leaderboard to view all players that voted in order. Not just the top 3.

I know that this is a lot to ask but if the AFL would get behind it and put some money into making it a global video game it could help attract interest to AFL worldwide. If the game is a success maybe EA sports could finally realise that AFL video games have FIFA Potential. The amount of action and diversity in the game of AFL makes it more difficult to put into a game then FIFA but if this could be achieved it would dare i say be better than FIfa could ever be.

well from what i've heard Tru blu is making AFL live 2 internally.
Big ant are currently working on Rugby League live 3 and Don Bradman cricket's PC release.

There a small studio, IF AFL live 2 is being worked on and will be released anywhere within the next 2 years Big ant won't be working on it.
at best once the PC version of DBC is out and all its updates are out, then RLL3 and all its updates are out.

only then would big ant have the resources to go into a final build. which takes many months before they even approach the "grind" stage.

Hopefully the trub blu rumour is legit. as it means we have a shot at getting another AFL game soonish.
