Silly question but isnt the AFL going to bring out an AFL Manager game soon.

I did see a manager game at a store but it cant be good when the player on the front cover looks like he's wearing a soccer/rugby top.

Anybody with any info?

Also, can find a great review by Walesy at www.tooserious.net.

Convinced me to buy the game. Its cool fun. Doesn't have an official AFL license-thus the generic coach on the front-but has full rosters of all the teams (players names are accurate. Team names are 'tweaked' ie Essendon Jets, Gold Coast Moons, St Kilda Priests).

I was still under the belief that the AFL were going to release a mangement style game. I must say im hooked on Football Manager and with my love for AFL would really love to see someone crack this Genre

there have been a few cracks at AFL management games.

the problem is the market just isn't really there to make much money off it.

the three ones i've seen (Premiership Coach, Footy Fanatic, Total Aussie Rules) have all been good but all had their down sides.

PC is the only going around now though and probably is the best all round effort.... i think you can download FF but you'll have to ammend player list and birth dates so that they are correct for the 2004 season or whichever was the last season that was developed.

You do know you can change their names in options? Its easy to change them to their official names.

Premiership coach is just a PC game isn't it? im talking about the AFL LIVE 2012 on PS3, that game can't be far away.

AFL LIVE with a little bit of a touch up, new rosters, new manager mode or be a pro mode or franchise mode, just needs something a little extra to keep the interest. Some better camera views to play with, more atmosphere and commentary.

Just the odd one of those and that'll keep alot of people happy!
 
I was working at a company a few years ago and we pitched to the company with the AFL license back then to do a Champ Manager style version for AFL. Just couldn't justify the numbers to make it work. Was going to cost too much and you're looking at a very small section of the market who would be interested in this kind of thing. I think we estimated 20,000 units and it was going to cost well over a million to make!

I would be nice if someone made another free manager, I still enjoyed playing TAR and FFX along with PC2011.
 
I still play Footy Fanatic. I like Premiership Coach but I miss having ALL statistics from every single year. It also doesn't take too long to load. Saying that, I'd love if there would be a new version of Footy Fanatic which included things that Premiership Coach does like having Match Records, having Coaches for every single team and seeing what their wins/losses/draw and %'s are as well as other things. If only somebody could get hold of Matt Bretag and see if he'd be willing, with other people possibly helping, to make a new, free, Footy Fanatic with updated rosters and new features. That'd make me quite happy. lol

I've always wanted to play that, to see how "good" it is. Can't find a download on the internet or find it. I wonder how much it costs now.

I have 2011 FFX lists with Suns, can't play career, or 2011 lists without them (IDK if they work), and 2010 lists with some teams updated 2011 (Gary Ablett still in Geelong), its kinda hard to get the full lists, so I can give you them if you need.
 
Oh yeah mate, that'd be great if you could send 2011 lists without Gold Coast.

I wish I was able to edit the schedule in some way and make it just 22 rounds but with Gold Coast in there. There's no way I'd be able to make it so that we could have 24 rounds with the suitable amount of byes. I know that there is the bye in Round 14 (split into two) so maybe it could work. The .dat file is a bit weird so editing it would be hard but could be possible.

i remember seeing that in a game shop in outer western sydney (of all places) maybe 10 years ago. should have picked it up. they would be difficult to come across now wouldnt they?

Extremely.

Maybe because the game was so god damned terrible.

I think I might still have my copy lying around amongst the myriad of untidy PC Games that I have, will have a look at some point.

If you find it, is it possible to upload the files for others? Its a pretty old game, and I don't anyone is selling it atm.

I'll have a look at the possibility. Don't want to condone piracy, but I don't think there'd be any way of getting it otherwise.
