I took out membership at the start of 2007 and was given Silver membership. Does anyone know how big/long the waiting list is for someone like me to become a gold member? Does/can the AFL tell you how long the waiting list is. Does the AFl tell you how many gold and silver members it has?

Curious.

3. How can I become an AFL Full Member?

When joining as an AFL Silver Member, your membership number is automatically placed on the Full Membership waiting list. On average, approximately 2,000 Silver Members are invited to become a Full Member annually. The average wait time for a Silver Member to receive a Full Membership invitation is approximately 6 – 8 years.

im heading into my 6th year i think however the waiting time at the moment is closer to 8 years then 6.

I think i was singed up 94-95 and got Gold membership (full membership at the time) in 02-03, so about 8 years.

I don't recall ever being given any information regarding how long the waiting list was etc just one day a letter turned up informing me I was now able to be a full AFL member.

Q. How can I become an AFL Full Member?

A. I am an AFL Silver Member
AFL Full Membership is capped at 28,000 and the number of invitations sent annually is dependant on the number of Full Members who do not renew for that particular season. We are generally able to offer Full Memberships to around 1,500 Silver Members annually and the anticipated wait time from joining to upgrade is 6 to 8 years.
The last membership number to be offered Full Membership in 2007 was 153890.
If your number is below 153890 and you chose to decline a Full Membership for one reason or another, or if we did not receive a response to your invitation in previous years, your membership number is then bypassed in future upgrade processes.
If your membership number is below 153890 and you would like to receive a Full Membership offer in 2008, please email your request to membership@afl.com.au, and your name will be placed into the upgrade database.
Upgrade invitations are sent in June each year.
I am not an AFL Member
To become an AFL Full Member, you are required to join as an AFL Silver Member which will automatically place you on the waiting list for Full Membership.
The waiting period to become a Full Member is currently around 6 to 8 years, although this can vary depending on the number of non renewing Full Members throughout the years.
