AFL Rebooted: Melbourne Royals
The next team in the new hypothetical league is the 'Melbourne Royals', inspired both by the crown featured on the Victorian flag as well as the fact that Victoria is named after a royal (Queen Victoria).

Design a kit for the Melbourne Royals, including home and clash jumpers and a logo. Feel free to use some creative license with the team name if you wish: Melbourne Royals, Kings, Princes, etc.

One entry per person; one image per entry. The competition is scheduled to conclude on Saturday 27 August, however entries can be submitted until the polls are created.

The 'Yarra Kings Football Club' colours are navy blue (one of Victoria's state colours) and golden yellow (gold as a reference to the golden crowns of royals). The colours also represent Melbourne and the Yarra River...

...the dark navy blue of the city and the night sky, and the gold lights reflecting on the water. The home and clash jumper feature horizontal stripes, which could be seen to represent the river flowing through. The jumpers also feature the Kings' logo on the left of the chest.

The colours are based on the flag of melbourne (red and white) with the addition of gold to go with the royals nickname.

The home and away guernseys again are based on the flag of Melbourne which is the St. George cross with added outlines.

The clash guernsey features a V in a similar style to the cross design, but with added side panels creates an M.

Finally the logo features a lion rampant on a shield that also features the letters M and V for Melbourne Victoria, under a crown.

Jumper design is an elongated "M" for Melbourne, which incorporates the historic "V" of the Victorian teams.

Please welcome the Melbourne Royals.

Mixing together the two traditional teams, and we end up with the hoops of the Geelong Cats and colours of the Melbourne Demons.

The navy represents the state of Victoria. The gold is a reference to royalty, also symbolised by the crown. The away is a bit of an homage to the "Invincible Whites" nickname.

Melbourne Royals

Colours: White, Red, Dark Blue
Mascot: The crown of St. Edward
Sponsors: Front - Ford; Back - Bank of Melbourne; Shorts - The Good Guys

The design of all three kits has a stripe with a pinstripe on either side, replicating the flag of Melbourne. They also all feature the Crown of St. Edward (the current Coronation crown, and as shown on the flags of Victoria and Melbourne) watermarked on the left half of the front (with some extending onto the right part of the back). The predominant colours of white and red reflect the Melbourne flag, and the flag of England (home of the Royal family), and the blue has reference to both Victoria and to the other official colour of the United Kingdom.

Great stuff LC. I love the colour contrast and the white in between gives it a touch of class.
