Well, I'm confused - the AFLSQ website is finally up and running - but the info is all over the shop and has changed heaps from one day to the next.... Last week it said Bribie Island were fielding two first grade squads and Bundy Brothers weren't fielding any - now Brothers are back in and Bribie Island's only fielding one....

Notice they've scheduled double headers for the new Hinterland-Wide Bay AFL for matches involving distant clubs - why doesn't this happen more often in footy in isolated areas? Obviously it's easier here as they aren't playing reserves matches so you can actually fit both in on the same day....

How's the development of country/suburban footy going in Queensland? It seems a bit up and down from an outsiders perspective, is there better times ahead?

Footy up these parts is a real eye opener. The standard of the ovals for most part is terrible.

The local juniors, who this year are fielding an under 18?? development squad. Saw 'em training last week in knee-deep grass. Council didn't mow it cos it was wet.

Actually when it rains up here, training AND games are called off!! Seriously, 4 drops of rain and some council nazi comes out and tells you "games off". Coming from SA - if you didn't play/train in the mud - some years you just wouldn't play.

When it does finally stop raining here (normally around Easter), the grounds quickly dry out and become rock hard dust bowls. Not just the junior suburban tracks, but even some where the AFLQ boys play/train.

Junior footy pretty popular up here, but given the conditions the U15's-U18's (& even seniors) get to run around on, I'd pull the pin too. Just not conducive to producing the next generation of Jim Brentons, John Girardi's or Brian Winstanley's

Cheers

What's the go with this underground irrigation system they were trialling to imporvie the state of the grounds? I take it that's only AFLQ grounds, though...

Is management getting better since the last few years' restructuring?

AFLSQ's take over of Bundy/Wide Bay is the best thing that's happened to the region. If anyone thinks that AFLQ is doing a bad job, try doing anything in Bundaberg, Hervey Bay or Maryborough! It sucks bad - even from a distance. Hopeless secretary.....hey did anyone know that at one time a few years ago they actually made the goal umpires take down the goal kickers!! Nuff said!
