AFL Coach 2002 is a video game series created by Melbourne game makers IR Gurus.
The first game was released in October 2002. It was released as a PC-only video game. In the game you assume the role of an AFL Coach, you tell your players commands such as the type of play you want them to play (attacking, defensive, Normal) and when to interchange. It sold well for an IR Gurus game but not too well on the market.
The AFL Coach series could be making a come back on the PC and PlayStation 3 consoles. It will be the first ever Aussie made game to be brought out on the PS3 system. The game will be developed by IR Gurus and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game will probably be released around round 3 of the 2008 AFL Premiership, Since it has been said Sony and IR Gurus will be making a AFL 08 which will come out during the 2008 NAB cup.
It will be named AFL Total Coach, and will have a cover of a coachs box at the MCG (a real photo) but with nobody on the field or in the box itself. It will have a dark blue frame that fades to the photo. The cover of the series AFL 07 will be the same almost. Dark blue and the MCG heavily raining. Matthew Pavlich from Fremantle, Chris Judd from Carlton and the 2007 brownlow medalist will be on the cover.
