Stupid idea. "AFL's answer to T20"...except that T20 is crickets cashcow and players make 10 times more money from it than the traditional form of the game...plus theres still the same amount of players, its played on the same grounds with 95% of the rules the same.

The Clubs wont want it (compromises post-season surgery etc) the fans wont want it (its not a H&A game and the normal season is still going) and I bet the AFLPA wont want it.

I love how the AFL are considering "incentives"..in other words they'll have to bribe the players to participate.

1000 better ways to spend the money IMO

How pissed would you be if a young recruit like Battle was playing and does a knee and misses all of next season ? I wouldn't want any Saints players playing in it as I would want our team if we didn't make the finals to have a break before coming back for preseason. Especially when you see how many big names have minor surgery at seasons end

Seriously who's going to watch this crap while the proper finals are on. And can you say imagine the melts if somebody got a major injury which is likely because it would be full running with no breaks for each quarter . All the good teams will be playing in the finals anyway .

The problem, unlike cricket , is we are a contact sport and our players get injuries .

Vince McMahon (sp?) tried this with the NFL a while back. Absolute farce. Injuries were common place and spectators turned away in droves after the initial launch, forcing the comp to come up with wackier and more dangerous rules.

I love that all those who have seen the play happening are stating that whilst in its infancy, they can see this working.. whilst the rest of us who are merely going off the concept of it are screaming to not be involved or not send particular players to it and distancing from it.

Yeah nah, it'll work, after all, there's enough people in the employ of the AFL to fill a stadium and meet soccer crowds, but by god is it a shit idea.

The XFL was really just a side league with some more lax rules then NFL and more attempted "spectacle". It was still the same game more or less whilst this is a cut down "touch" version.

To be fair, ive played AFL9s before and it doesnt really work very well. Too many people on the field and not enough reward for forcing turnovers etc.. This does sound like a much better format but why the hell are they trying to get real AFL players doing it?

Think about it afl.....if you revamp the dome, take control of the food that goes in it, do it at decent prices then you'll get more peeps thru the door watching their ****ing reserves sides play before their seniors hence spending more coin on food and drink
