I have been watching a few and I can see why the players get annoyed. The Sharapova one yesterday they just kept asking the same question over and over again.

The best question was during the Nalbandian conference ' David, do you think you drank or poured more water over your head during the match'?

What kind of quesiton is that?:D Who cares. To his credit Nalbandian answered.

Anyone see the Nadal one ?

It sounded like some Work Experience kids filling in.

It did sound like Work Experience kids.

I saw a bit from Serena Williams. 'That little handbag you carry, is that a fashion statement containing all those accessories of yours?' WTF?

She answered 'No, it has my bottles and sweat bands in there. But i like the bag becuase i think it's very cute'

Ive often wondered why many players whose first language is not english speak with an american accent. kim clijsters for example.

anyway, post match conferences in tennis are similar to golf in that they sound big headed - "yeah i played good golf/tennis today". i guess that comes from playing an individual sport.

It's just how they have to answer, it's the stock answer.

There is no point having them. Hewitt's press conferences are all the same and full of clinche's including:
- I played good tennis today
- (My next Competitor) will be a tough opponent

every tennis player says those. yeah i played good tennis today, yeah he's a great player, i knew i had to play my best to beat him.....

I have always found press confrences boring. You will never really get anything half decent unless they are really pushed.

or the player gets angry :D

Agree. Unless it is a really controversial match, all the press conferences don't add anything. Players don't like it, the media spend all their time covering it and put a few boring quotes in the papers. Press Conferences just does not suit a game like tennis.

Some can be average, others can be ok. Press conferences are more suited to 'highlights' form, where instead of sitting through all of it, you get the best bits or clips.

Fox Sports used to show a Wimdledon special over the years, some of the questions the journalists asked the players (all the great, and no so great players) were pearlers. Some serious, but a lot of silly questions (like asking Andre Agassi how the food was etc)
