Percentage aside, we are one win away from 6th and one loss away from 15th
I know which of these I feel we are closer to
Along with Carlton and North, we are the sides that have clearly gone backwards from round 1 to round 10. And that's notwithstanding what sounds like a better turn out yesterday (haven't seen the game yet, I was away camping).
I still think we have a chance after the bye to turn things around because of how tight the comp is, but geez the last 6 weeks have been hard and we're heading for a hiding next week

.... and we're heading for a hiding next week

How about a little optimism.

The upset results this week show that any club can beat any other on the day. It's about going in with the right attitude.

We just gotta start a bit more assertively, try to get off to flyer and take the lead early.

Actually, round 15 2006. Collingwood were top four and we were outside the eight. Played them at the MCG and beat them quite well. They were in a patch of bad form at the point, and we probably got them on a good day, but it was still unexpected and set up the season from there, especially considering how much criticism the club was copping only a few weeks previously.

Both teams came of three losses out of the last four games that time.

Des played a blinding third quarter (a goal and three goal assists with his first four kicks) after a quiet opening half. And the Wiz kicked 6.

Was that the game McPharlin kicked a few in the first quarter?

edit: Nope it wasnt

We will come out wanting to win against the Tigers

Ross has already won away in Melboure and let that be the first of many - we were unlucky not to win away in Sydney and to be honest, you don't need a winning style in Tassie if you're getting sent down there once every couple of years

We will need speed for the open spaces of the G -probably why Ross has persisted with Jess over the past couple weeks. Let's hope Hill is alright after the heavy tackle he copped :thumbsu:

This game would come close to rivalling that, I reckon. Interesting to see how our season proceeds from here.

We beat Geelong at Kardinia Park in 2005 after getting belted by 9 goals at home to a bottom four side. Unfortunately we couldn't set the season up on that one.

Will be interesting to see how our season unfolds from this win. This and the Saints game would have to be easily our best two wins for the season.

Does today count?

:)

I don't think it does actually. We may have gone in at $4.50 underdogs, but as has been mentioned 'round the place, that was a hugely inflated odds based mostly on the Tigers hype going 'round. Still an upset, but not that grand when you look at it all considered.

In the end of the day, Tigers were in form, but they are basically at 'our level' - a potential side that is really battling for that 'mid-tear' level. On our respective days we can beat anybody, but we can flop any time too. There's a thread doing the 'rounds about this tough stretch where in - I still reckon this was one of the easier ones amongst them even if at the MCG etc.

BTW, we're back at the MCG to play Collingwood in a few weeks ... now that would be an upset!!
