Are we losing it?

Last week against Collingwood, I noticed with some disappointment that Adam McPhee had the ideal opportunity to iron out (fairly) Dayne Swan as he was kicking Collingwood's first goal, but he just didn't seem to have any desire to lay the bump. It would have been a perfect way to set the tone for the game, may have actually prevented the goal, and if it adversely affected how much impact Swan had on the remainder of the game that would have been a huge bonus.

I think Harvey would have been livid, how do you think Lyon sees this aspect of football as it fits into his game style?

It would be great to have a clip of it for those who missed it in the game. Any tech savvy videophiles out there willing to take up the challenge?

Did we ever have it? I think it only exists for us in a derby.

We once had a tough edge, briefly. Even derbies don't seem to have the intensity they once did.

if anything, ross is demanding greater aggression, hence why duffield has been collecting his thoughts in the WAFL.

Yeh, I don't think there's much in this. McPhee as well as a few others have ironed out opposition players throughout the year. Our contested possession (admittedly not directly related to aggression) has also improved.

Nothing new from tinfoil-hat Reggie

You don't think this is new?

The evidence is there to say we still have aggression in the team. Not mentioned yet is Mzungu who can also lay a good hard bump occasionally. Same with de Boer. We have players with some mongrel that like it rough (sounds zesty).
Fear that's aggression is not in the team is unfounded. Non-issue.

I don't think he could of "ironed out" Swan. He was not close enough, Swan is fast and would shrug off most bumps anyway.

Yeah, put a big hit on after he's kicked the ball, let's give away another goal.......

Looks to me like he had plenty of time to hit him as he kicked, perhaps even before. If that's the standard that's acceptable to the team, we're never likely to go far in finals.

Looked a fraction late to bump him but reckon if he had dived might have made a smother.

I find it infuriating when players try to bump opponents and miss instead of laying a tackle. It looks good when it comes off but it's low percentage. If you can bump an opponent you can tackle them . Anything but spot-on contact when performing a bump will put you off balance and out of a contest for long enough for the ball to be cleared by the opposition.

Having had a look at the replay twice, to me, it looks like McPhee did slow up quickly however I think that was more because he didn't want to give away a second shot at goal.

If it was for lack of effort as you suggest Reg, McPhee would be borderline dropped for it but I expect him to be in the team this weekend so really, it wasn't lack of effort or aggression.

Ok, looks like the general consensus is that McPhee did enough.

I'm obviously a harsher critic than the rest of you because I expected more.
