I think so. He's played some pretty good footy this year despite the controversy. He's 29 so he would have at least three years left in him IMO. We've seen how well the Pickett experiment worked out, I'd love to see Aker running around in the Red and Blue.

If he did become available at season's end, I'm little worried what we might have to give up for him. Who would we give up? Probably Green is the only good player whom I'd be willing to give up with a draft pick or two. But he's really stepped up this year so I'd be reluctant to. I'd be happy to part with a couple of draft picks.

I think we've got a great mixture of experience and youth and our window for a premiership is now IMO. With Neita reaching his twilight and Johnstone, Bruce, Green, Robbo, Macca, White, Brown, Pickett all at their peak we shouldn't die wondering with this list.

He's a headcase I'll admit, but if he can still play good footy we should aggressively pursue him if he leaves Brisbane.

I think we are one of the few clubs who would realistically be looking at Akermanis. He will probably be able to give 1-3 good years left, which fits our time frame with our list. Like you said, Pickett worked well with a fresh start, no reason why Akermanis can't. He is a star player, has had premiership experience and could really help us win a flag.

Right now I dont think we need him, too much risk. He can't shut his mouth and he hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire at Brisbane this season.
Add the fact this year's draft is very strong, what price would it take to get him?
Ill wait and see how we perform in finals...not worth it what from i've seen so far imo.

Brisbane will probably drive a very hard bargain. It could be like the Nick Stevens saga. In that situation Collingwood weren't prepared to give up anything. We must be prepared to give up a quality player I think. Since Green is playing good footy and still got years left in him he would be the obvious candidate plus draft picks.

Having said that, Brisbane are rebuilding and they'll probably prefer draft picks. Hopefully.

We have to ask ourselves whether we are a realistic chance to win a premiership within the next 2 years. If so, then we must try to get Akermanis. Sometimes you have to take a risk if you want to succeed. Yes it will be a reat draft but chances are we will have only pick 14 or something there abouts.

Who says we need Akermanis to win a premiership within the next two years?

Alright I'll put here what I put on the main board. Green and our first pick for Acker and their first. This may seem like alot as Acker is 4 years older and not a greatly superior player, however if both teams finish in the positions they are in now we will get pick 4 instead of 12. I know this is a deep draft but top 4 would give us a chance at a real gun. (Check out the draft board.)
