He has got a huge job ahead of him he could be the key in us going foward in 2006 and not backwards

How important is his job now?

He was always a key for us in more ways than one

Nothing has changed to suggest he is more important to us now than he was 12 months ago.

He has done some excellent work this year and he will continue to do some excellent work in the future.

Spot on stiffy.

Alan Stewart did 8 years of fantastic work at the Power.
I think he was the biggest signing the crows made last year. Hopefully he can pluck a few gems out of the draft system this year and beyond like he did for the Power.

Well thats not his role. He is not th erecruiting manger.

His role is to work closely with the players (especially the young ones) and decide what needs to be done with our list. He will be the one to assess who goes, go stays, what type of players we need, who we need to give a chance to next year etc... Thats his role at the end of the year.

During the year his role is to work with our younger players and develop them both as people and footballer. Its no conincidence that Hentschel's game has lifted after he got dropped and in the mean time worked closely with Stewart.

His input in recruiting will be very minimal. He would have watched some games in SANFL but I think thats as far as it goes for his input in drafting. He will tell what type of player we need but he want say I was you to get Joe Bloggs instead of Benn Barbecue.

that hes plays no role in recruiting is sort of worrying. This was his strength after all and what he was paid to do at the power, its almost like hes come here as a retirement package. This 'development role' is overrated anyway. A player either has it or they dont, its the inner drive plus talent they must have to succeed. A stewart cant magically give them this. We can see this in players like skippy and co they are simply not up to it. If his role is evaluating which players can 'make it' on our list this is rather odd as it hasnt been a problem for us anyway, i cant think of any players we have let go that have come good. James fantasia has the most important role for us.

Don't be surprised if Stewart continues to play a role in recruiting. Am I correct in thinking that he was responsible for the drafting of Boogie Knights?

I would also go as far to say that he had a lot to do with the dynasty Centrals are enjoying now. Too bad we couldn't win a flag for him back in the mid-nineties.

No he had no input in drafting Knights.

The only input he has in last year's draft is what type of players we should pick up. It wasn't Stewart that suggested we pick up Knights.

You guys can call me bitter, whatever, but I said this back when he worked for us ... Stewart's recruiting skills are overrated.

Brosnan, Thurstans, Brooks, Guerra, the Murrays, Morgan (ahead of Pavlich), M Stevens, Koulouriotis ... off the top of my head, hardly a roll call of the game's elite.

I don't think Fantasia is nearly as bad as some of you make out.
