The question has to be how did this kid not get a rising star nom.

Even in year 1 he showed composure and did his role in the backline.
Some severe under-rating of him from the vic media no doubt.

One of the reason's he slid so far down the draft was because recruiters were a bit unsure of his position (Spent a fair bit of time forward and was solid without starring...)

Also was a little bit of a question mark on his disposal.

I've liked him from the beginning, but during the GF, i also realised he has a bit of pace off the mark, is able to turn it on over a short distance. Not saying he couldnt do it over a long distance but just havent seen it yet. But yes, was impressed particularly by his acceleration.

Heard that mentioned on the way to the airport on Monday morning, talking with Nafan Buckley. Bucks was giving him a big wrap and was questioned how the hell he went so far down the order in the draft. The inference was the recruiters thought he may be a bit of a lair.

Strangely enough, admittedly only based on watching him in the U18 C'Ships, I had those exact same reservations on Lewis Johnston when we drafted him, although I can't say he really showed that side when he was with us...
