Hey guys just wanted to ask about him. Was highly rated going into last years draft but has seemed to fall off the radar. How's he progressing?

Hey dude, yeah if you want to know about him just flick on the ABC channel because Coburg are playing...he is number 18. I think he just needs to develop a little bit more so im guessing he will stay in the Coburg line up and have a good pre-season and be in for us next season.

He was a possible top 10 pick some experts say but slid for a reason i do not know why???

Ive watched him throughout the year and impresses me more and more, a little annoyed though that Kelvin Moore, Thursty, McGuane and even Shultz have been doing to well for him to get a call up. he looks promising from what ive seen

Yer i saw him U/18's last year and he really impressed me I thought he could make an immediate impact but has seemed to fall off the radar a bit anyway I think youve got a good player on your hands.:thumbsu:

i think its great they are in there but, it seems like a waste, but u never know injuries, not that im hoping for them

I just want him to get experience in the AFL because he is above VFL atm i think

His downfall moore than anything is the improvement of of Moore, Mcguane and thursfield, plus earlier in the year Polak.

He was brilliant today should get some games next year, doesn't matter about Thursfield, McGuane and Moore make some room for Rance because he is a beauty.
B: Newman, Thursfield, McGuane,
HB: Moore, Rance, McMahon
with Raines on the bench
could and should work, it is a great backline we have.

Thought he was awesome today, some said he was slow when we drafted him, but looks quick to me. Will be interesting in a few years with Moore, thursfield and McGuane as one will probably have to go.

Has had to undergo a degree of "attitude readjustment".
All reports that "treatment" has been reasonably successful, and it's all forward from here.

Really? Apparantley they had to hold him back because he wanted to do everything pre-season (all optional training sessions extra gym work etc) and the trainers were concerned he would do an RSI or OP.

He did well enough today to suggest he will be a very important player for us for many years to come.

Best part about him is that his body looks ready to play seniors.

I'd bring him in next week! :thumbsu:

Meyer should be in too. Good today.

How did you hear of this?

He's a confident young bloke with fantastic leadership qualities, I have never heard anything of attitude problems until just now (doesn't mean there aren't any!)

Seems like a good prospect for the future.

Rubbish. I'd get rid of mcmahon before any of those three.

Funny how our back line was considered one of our biggest weaknesses last year, but now it is our strongest area with the improvement shown by Moore, Thursfield and McGuane. Rance is still developing and once he gets a few pre-seasons under his belt he will be the final piece of the puzzle for our back line for the next 7 years. Until then Moore, Thursfield and McGuane will be able to hold our defence well.

Right now I'd say the clubs biggest weakness is our ruck division. Our forward needs a tall forward, especially with Richo only having two (mabye pushing 3) years left in him. Our midfield is strong and getting better but I think we are one class midfielder away from completion of our midfield unit.

Rance could easily come in for Thursfield. The Forcefield looked completely at sea today. Johnson made him look ordinary.

Meyer in for McMuffin would be nice too.

His attack on the footy is first rate especially considering he is 18 yo.
We have found ourselves a player here.
I love his build as well. I think we were very fortunate he slipped to us.

Where did Rawlings play him yesterday? Read in the paper that he got 30 possessions.

Half back from what i saw in the first half.

Rance and Meyer will slot into that backline nicely IMO.

Meyer Thursfield Mcguane

Moore Rance Tambling

pretty sure that pavlich pulling out threw a cat amongst our pigeons hence why will ended up being mis-matched up with Johnson. if it was known that Pav was going to miss i would suggest a smaller player would have taken the place of perhaps Mcguane?

Had Rance at #14 in my mock last year, and rated him highly.

Here are my comments:

Pick 14 > Melbourne - Alex Rance - 194cm 87kgs - Swan Districts (Key Back)

Melbourne need key backs and have picked up a gem here in Rance, who is tipped by many to go top 10. At 194 cm is a real Fullback option. Question marks about his pace and defensive ability have meant that he has slid to pick 14. Runs 3.1 seconds over 20 metres, so lacks a bit of pace but has sound foot skills and the ability to adapt to any situation or position. An iceman, the kind of person you turn to in a crisis. Melbourne has done well picking up Rance here, and Craig Cameron will be licking his chops yet again.

Alex has come on nicely this year, wouldn't say he's dropped off the radar; more that he hasn't commanded a spot in the best 22 as of yet.

I always saw him as a development player, and think it was unrealistic for people to expect to see him starring in his first year.

Hold onto your hats, and be patient, Alex will shine soon enough. We've got a real talent on our hands.
