Drove through on my way back to Katherine today. There is another thread on the best Victorian country town. If Alice was located in Victoria or another state and not so remote people would be rushing to move there. It is beautiful. I expected a dry, brown city but it is green, attractive, surrounded by hills and has just about every food and retail store you could possibly want. In fact I think I may ask for a transfer there.
Anybody else been?
On another note I just did five states/territories in four weeks. I drove from Katherine to Toowoomba, Queensland for Christmas, then through NSW to Melbourne for a couple of weeks to visit friends there, then to Adelaide to spend a couple of days with a friend, then back to Katherine. I arrived home this afternoon and I don't think I ever want to see a car again as long as I live.
