Silvagni out-only started playing well in 88 89. Platten has to be in, prob for T shaw or KB (retired in early 80s). Roos in, maybe knights emerg (played best footy in 70s). Otherwise good effort.

Excellent Team. Except for Salmon at FF and Worsfold at HB.

Probs put Barker at HB and Dunstall at FF.

Platten would make way for Dermie but still get a spot on the bench.

Dougie would get the spot on the Wing at Dippers expense, and Wayne Johnston would take his spot on the bench.

Gerard Healy would take the Fleas spot.

If a 2nd ruckman was needed I'd give Michael the spot.

Salmon was picked by me because he still holds the record for goals scored by a Victorian in SOO (which is how AA's were awarded at the time)...no player has kicked more goals than him for the Vics...not Lockett, not Dunstall, not Ablett.

Worsfold had a great time for WA ever before playing for the Weagles. Barker didn't play for the Vics at all beyond 1982 (aftrer a great run prior to that).

I'd still pick Dunstall over Salmon; but i'd be basing it on performance in the VFL rather than state carnivals.

You may be right about Barker, but I'm not sure Worsfold should be there. I'm not sure what he did beforehand but was only 19 when he started in 1987 - and though he had good years in 88-89 - he played as a ruck-rover?

Maybe Chris Mew should get a game.
