After a few days of people criticising Clarko I thought I'd post my thoughts on the situation

Clarko loves to be challenged. He challenges himself

He loves to challenge players & HFC staff to get the very best out of themselves. Whether it's for HFC benefit or not.
Clarko loves to see his people succeed.

He wants the challenge of rebuilding this team & winning more premierships for this club as soon as possible. He doesn't like losing.

I think he wanted to challenge Sam Mitchell. He wanted Mitchell to take the step away from his comfort zone when he wasn't quite expecting it. Knowing that Sam would rise to the challenge & succeed from it.

Clarko wants to challenge the new & younger players to step up & fill the void that Mitchell has left without having Sam there to cover their arse. It's a challenge for him, to get them, to get the best out of themselves.

Clarko always puts his assistants out there as candidates when a coaching job comes up, because he wants them to be successful.
I think he sees that as a challenge. They take our IP forcing him to come up with new plans. Challenging himself, while challenging them to work out his new plans & how to beat him.

He wants everyone involved with HFC to be successful, whether it be at HFC or elsewhere or life in general. Their success, is his success.

I really don't believe that Clarko gets the credit he rightfully deserves whether that be from the media, oppo fans or even some of our own supporters.

The man is a living legend.
