There is an article in todays Herald Sun on Alwyn Davey, the younger brother of Aaron Davey, who is nominating for this years draft.
Although he is 22 he looks like an interesting prospect and would team up nicely with Betts in the forward line and rotating through the guts, he has pace to burn and apparently has displayed great defensive ability in the forward line for South Adelaide as well as kicking 39 goals for the year and finishing top 5 in there B&F.
I think his age and added maturity would be a bonus in terms of this years draft and him and Eddie would never let anyone get out of our forward line with the ball with there pace and tackling ability, well worth a punt with a later pick if still available or even a mid range pick.
Apparantly he was even faster than his brother when they were younger and i am sure with some AFL conditioning could be at least as quick now. A mouth watering prospect the thought of Eddie and Alwyn crumbing and holding in the ball in our forward half, would be a real asset to our team IMO and his extra years on other players in the draft gets him over the line for me as he will definately add immediately to our team output in terms of goals and tackles which we need badly, while still being young enough to give us years of good service.
It also gives Eddie another aboriginal friend to knock around with now that McGrath has been cut loose and gives us another excitement machine to boost our membership drive.:thumbsu:

Go the Mosquito Fleet!!!!!!! (Alwyn would fit into this group nicely):thumbsu:

I actually saw him play in a couple of games on ABC 2, the kid showed a little. I was going to post someting a few weeks back to find out more about him from Adelaide based people. Is he worth a speculative pick?

would love to see A Lovett and A Davey in the same team... Aaron that is :D

I think Alwyn will be rookied, sheedys type of player though so he might be picked up late by us..

Not sure you could play both Betts and Davey in the same 22.

I know what you mean, but do you think that Aaron Davey could play forward with Betts? Comes from a very nice pedigree that was under rated by so many. This kid might well be worth a look?

Goes ok does Alwyn, real quick and tackles well, not so freaky with the skills though as Aaron.
With Eddie in the team you would be asking yourself can we play two little blokes who do the same tricks and play the same roles.
Will probably want to play with Aaron or stay in Adelaide .

Just reading the Herald Sun not long ago i was going to post the same question i think he would be a good pick up , even if we arent interested in him where abouts in the draft do you guys think this kid will go

Late pick at best. Could be rookied though.

No thanks, we don't need that type of player.

Bahahahahahahahahahahaha

You truly have no idea.

Carlton don't need a 35 goal a year small forward? Who has has several years experience playing against men? Who is lightning fast and continues to try and try and gets up after every contest. Who chases down at least 3 opponents a game resulting in free kicks?

You haven't seen him play. Next time, don't post. You'll save me the trouble.

I've seen him play Gets!, and whilst I agree that he is a talent, we've already got Eddie Betts who plays that small forward type of roll. Betts' defensive ability to chase down opponents is pretty good as well.

I have less of an idea about what Carlton needs than you?

Please tell me that you are joking...:o

Run along now, troll.

The fact remains that Eddie Betts and Alwyn Davey would not fit well in the same team. I'd prefer Eddie, thanks.

How do you KNOW this?

Davey can play in the midfield as well.

Hopefully he comes to the AFC though :D

Davey is small, and will not fit right into the midfield anyway. Would prefer the majority of our midfielders there instead of him as well.

Davey and Eddie would not work well in the same forward line, and our other forwards are better. Would prefer Eddie to Alwyn as well.

You can take him :D

If Carlton decide to pick a small crumbing forward, I'd prefer someone like Djerrkurra to Alwyn Davey. That's if he's still available at pick 17 or 19? Looks very, very promising.

Nathan Djerrkura is a midfielder

I'd imagine he'd still be available at #17, but he's a midfielder, not a FP like Betts. He's one of a handfull of mids i'm hoping we take at #17.
