WOW! What a difference a week makes. Melbourne were bloody sensational today. They were all brilliant. That first half was great. I was a bit worried during the 3rd quarter and the start of the last but they steadied beautifully.
The only things that annoyed me today was the TV Commentry and the shade and sun over the ground. I could not see who had the ball half the time! But in the end just a great effort. Steve Febey, Play on next year. You are playing in the best form of your career. I may now have to consider going to the footy next week.;) :p :p

oh what a glorious day. !!!!! thanks for the perfect birthday presents, my boys. U WERE SUPERB !! :D ok well it rained here all day and according to my friend in sydney it was bloody hot. but oh well. we did great. what more could i say..?????

Neita U R A GOD. I LUV YOU !!!!! (if only u could kick straighter ;) )

WOW!
You all thought we'll get thrashed... and yeah so did I; but like i always say Melbourne never stops amazing us.
It was great to see them firing again, running with confidence and having that 2000 spark about them (all without Grgic may i add :D). Like Febey said after the game 2002 has began and keeping that in mind i think next season promises to be a fantastic one! :)
A few questions though; Where was Chell??? and Godfrey who were both named in the team???
Why was Greeny on the bench for 95% of the time? Why was Brucey playing in the back pocket? and since when can Walshy kick a long 50m goal?? ;)
Yeah well over all a great effort from Melbourne... the journey towards 2002 has well and truely began.

well the SCG is a smaller ground, and kicking 50 metres is easier than at other grounds like the G, so thats probably why Walshy could kick it.

As for Greeny- i have no idea why he wasnt on, cos he should have been. but he was in the tracksuit on the bench, so i dont know. and chell and godders, were unexplainables as well. hmmm

The commentators were stuck for words as well.... they kept saying he haven't seen Leoncelli the whole day... or Leoncelli is... and stopped. And no one bothered asking what was going on!
Some is very fishy down there... hmmmmmmm.....

First of all don't get too excited about 2002 yet. Its only one win. Chell was actually injured. He had a knock on the shoulder and was a late withdrawal. It was not becuase he missed the plane! I agree about Green. He is a match winner and should be on although on a small ground our forward line would have been crowded.
I was surprised about Bruce playing up back but it was a good move as he reduced Goodes effectiveness significantly.
Yes the journey has only started so KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE RED & THE BLUE.

I actually don't think Chell is injured... they would have said he was a late withdraw on TV like they did with Kelly.
It wouldn't surprise me if he missed the plane, but somehow i think it's something they don't want us to know about.
I think it's something to do with off field personal troubles.... but my guess is as good as anyones here.

I heard about the injury on Demon Radio. Some one had rung up and said they heard on the radio the reason he wasn't playing was that he was disciplined for off field reasons and he would be traded to the Swans at the end of the year. Somehow I doubt Chell would play up too much. It is just a recurrance of his shoulder injury.

WHAT?
Is this from the same reliable source that provided us with the West and Cox story?
Who is the idiot who keeps ringing up radio stations and tipping off bull**** to the press about footy players?
First of all Chell is not one to go messing around and being disciplined, second of all he ain't going anywhere especially not Syndey (he would never leave his family).
I don't know about the shoulder injury, but at least its more belivable than the other load of crap!

How do you know that's not true?

Did you watch the sunday footy show this morning?
Why would you believe something like that anyway?
Scott West is married and has a kid for that intellegant life form out that who made up that story.
Its coz of people like that who make up stories, and people like you who believe them that player's reputations and careers are destroyed (you only need to look back less than a year ago when someone wrote disgusting stuff on the bomber site).
People should get a life and start dealing with the football side of things.

u idiot Nicki........he did his shoulder again...during the week....
but...Cameron Bruce did say on Demon Radio that most of the team missed the flight back because of celebrations.....

Good win by the guys...but...

We have to remember a couple of things...firstly Sydney were very very flat after their disappointing loss to the Dons last week and secondly they probably expected to win easily, and thirdly a few of our guys were playing for contracts...
However, I don;t want to try and spoil the day....well done Dees.

I really did not expect us to win and stuck a tape in the recorder and trotted off to Werribee Plaza to see the Storm Boys do their Pub promotion...which was on between 2-4...so straight after that a few of us waltzed into the main bar..and low a behold the Dees were in front...I thought I was seeeing things.!!!

:D

Well done boys:D

The reliable source that mentioned about Chells shoulder, was none other than the unreliable Mark Evans. Mr "i am the best thing since sliced bread" communicationc manager. Look i sooo wouldnt be surprised if it was somethin else. i mean seriously as if they would really tell us the truth about it, i mean after all this is the mfc we r talking about.

First of all - congradulations for yesterday - the Dees were SUPERB.

How come you guys have only won 8 games this year with that form ? - *scratches head in bewilderment*

We were very flat and just didn't wanna play - for a number of reasons including post Essendon disorder ;) , absence of Paul Kelly and a personal bereavement at The Swans this week that obviously left the players feeling a little gutted.

No excuses though - you were as hot as we were cold and the TV pictures just didn't do justice to the space, run and LEGIONS of loose running players you were able to create all afternoon.

Secondly - on Lioncelli, that rumour about being traded to the Swans is hogwash. Chell wouldn't be interested in uprooting all his family and personal life to Sydney and, with all due respect, he is too injury prone for us to seriously consider such a deal.

And no, NOBODY (including youse) is getting Jason Saddington !

cheers

Firstly I'd love to have Saddington. Just the type of player we need.

As for only winning 8 games , there are numerous reasons which have already been mentioned previously but it is Frustarting that they can put in a performance like that after having such a bad year.

I agree Essendon did us a favour although I was upset about that result at the time. But teams have to recover from those things and they should have made it a positive. They were good enough to get with in 2 points of Essendon, a mighty good achievement!

AS for the TV pictures I could hardly see becuase one minute it would be in the shade, the next the sun, very poor indeed.

I agree with Nicki.
I very very much doubt that Chell has a shoulder injury that all of a sudden started to trouble him, and we weren't informed on it.
To me that excuse is getting old and sus.
A few rounds back Chell didn't play either, some said he had a shoulder injury some said he was dropped to the VFL (although he never ended up playing with them) but the truth was that he was dealing with personal problems off field.
I think that is the problem that reoccoured and not his shoulder!
And as for a few of the guys missing the flight back due to celebrations... well what can i say? geez it's only one game and its not like we have any hope of making the finals... but still boys will be boys ;)

because i have had dealing with mark evans, through our supporters group AND through the club earlier this year. (i interviewed him for an assignment) and he is a waste of space. i mean seriously the guy has no idea.

And i heard his comment on the supporter groups on demon radio last night, and i just wanna say that, we have had more success securing speakers and reps from the club without his help (and he is the official channel to go through) so i just dont like him. its as simple as that.

wwwoooowww!!!
i don't want to reply to what everyones said, coz there are sooooo many, but what i will say is...
WHAT A GGRREEAATT MATCH!!! GGGGOOOOOO DDDDEEEEEEEEEEESSS!

it was great to see them all playing well, but ssoooo bad to see woey go out so early! :( oh well, i hope we play that well - or better this week too!

GO DEES!!!

I think it is very good of him to help you with your assignment!
