Starts today. New show, co-developed by Hannibal's Bryan Fuller, so you can rest assured that it's plenty surreal, violent, stylish and also violent.

Good first episode. Looks stunning visually like everything Fuller does.

I had THAT scene spoiler for me a few days ago, and was kinda expecting it to be more graphic. but im glad it wasnt

First episode was awesome! Vikings. supernatural, cinematography, McShane, Americana, soundtrack, virtual reality. No idea what is going on but can't wait to find out.

I've like read half of the book a few years ago - a great read but just never got around to finishing it. Thought about going back to it when I heard this was announced but **** it gonna see it through with this.

A very promising start, mostly have a grasp of what's going on from what I remember in the book - a couple of scenes I'm really looking forward to see how they do it - should be a wild ride.

Agree, great book! Might well be my favourite, love going back to it every couple of years. Really liking the show so far too.

I'd never seen Hannibal so this visual style is really striking to me. I really like it, though it sometimes feels like the special effects aren't quite up to the imagination on show.

Loved the stuff at the end of episode 2! Czernobog was fantastic.

It was a great first season but a lot of it felt like a prequel, where all the answers and action are to come. So much of this season had you firmly in Shadow's shoes. As somebody who never read the source material, I spent a vast amount of this season wondering what the **** was going on. The finale alleviated a lot of my doubts and really hammered home what all of this was for and set up where it may going.

My reaction to the last 15 minutes of the finale are best described with a South Park Randy gif.

Media
: You’re an old god new again. That’s what we offer. That’s what we represent. You feel you’ve been treated unfairly ?

Ostara: I feel misrepresented in the media.

Media: Put a pillow over that feeling and bear down until it stops kicking. St. Nick took the same deal you did. The only reason why you are relevant today is because Easter is a Christian Holiday.

Ostara : Ha

Media: Its religious Darwinism. Adapt and Survive. What we have achieved together, you and I, is no small feat; now that we’re living in an atheist world.

Ostara: Look at you! Squawk the squawk.

Media: In your easter bonnet with all the frills upon it, you should be thrilled, overjoyed that anyone believes in anything that doesn’t have a screen anymore. What happens if they all decide that God doesn’t exist?

Mr. Wednesday: What if they decide God does exist ?

Media: Whose God? They’re not all going to choose just one.

Mr. Wednesday: Well, it doesn’t matter. Plenty of worship to go around once worship gets redistributed.

Media: We are the distributors. The platform and the delivery mechanism. We control the story. We control the flow.

Technical Boy: We are the flow.

Mr. Wednesday: What you offer is existential crisis aversion. ‘Don’t look over there, look over here. Don’t listen to that, listen to this.’ You provide a product, an innovative distraction and you keep innovating it and you keep providing it. The beauty of what we (the old gods) do is we only need inspire.

Technical Boy: Hmm.. You don’t have the juice. And don’t act like your *effing* rent boy here (referring to Shadow ) is your disciple. Here’s the thing: you’re old as *fcuk*. Things are never going back to the way that they were. The times, they are a-changing. You. Can’t. Fight. Progress.

Mr. Wednesday: Then why are you here ? Why do I matter ?

Media : We’re here for her (Ostara). We’re here for my friend. And you don’t matter. Not really. Not anymore. You could have, but…

Mr. Wednesday: People create Gods when they wonder why things happen. Do you know why things happen? Because Gods make them happen. You want to know how to make good things happen ? Be good to your God. You give a little.. You get a little. The simplicity of that bargain has always been appealing. That’s why you are here. And that’s precisely why I matter!

Mr. World: You only matter in matters of war. And there’s not going to be a war. We have the guns. We have the firepower. You have the swords and knives and hammers and stone axes. We fight, we win. We don’t fight, we win.

Technical Boy: You die out either way.

Mr. World: You are the passenger pigeons and thylacines. Nobody cares about you. It’s either going to be a bloodbath or we’ll wait you out and get the whole thing without a fuss. My message to you: Don’t fight.

Mr. Wednesday: I don’t have to fight. I have faith. I dedicate these deaths to Ostara.

Media: Which deaths?

Mr. Wednesday: Do you have faith, Shadow?

Shadow: What are you?

Mr. Wednesday: Do you know me? Do you know what I am? Do you want to know my name?

Shadow: Tell me.

Mr. Wednesday: This is what I am called. I’m am called Glad-of-War, Grim, Raider and Third. I am One-eyed. I am also called Highest and True-Guesser. I am Grimnir and the Hooded One. I am All-Father, Gondlir, Wand-bearer. I have as many names as there are winds. As many titles as there are ways to die. My ravens are called Huginn and Muninn. Thought and Memory. My wolves are Freki and Geri. My horse is the gallowed. I am OOOOOODIIINN!!

Shadow: Odin…

Mr. Wednesday: Odin, and you are Ostara of the Dawn. Show them who you are!

Media: What have you done (directed at Ostara)?

Mr World: You wanted a war, Glad-of-War. You got one. Be glad. It will be the war you die in.

Mr. Wednesday: Tell the believes and non-believers: tell them we’ve taken the spring. They can have it back when they pray for it.

Mr. Wednesday: Do you believe? (to Shadow)

Shadow: I believe.

Mr Wednesday: What do you believe, Shadow?

Shadow: Everything.

This show's lush colours and vibrant cinematography reminds me of the firs couple of seasons of True Blood, just gorgeous to look at. Can't wait for the 2nd season as shit is about to go down.
