The Western Force have been dealt a season shattering blow with star signing Andre Pretorius ruled out for the entire Super 14 competition.
The marquee overseas signing, who was vital to the side's chances of making an impression on this year's competition, tore the left hamstring from the bone during Wednesday's training.

Gotta feel for the bloke, packs up everything and comes to Australia. Now he has torn his Hammy off the bone, and won't play a minute of the Super 14 comp. :thumbsdown: :(

Dunno if you can call him a gun, at his best he was an outstanding kicker and a decent playmaker, but nothing more imo. He would have done some good for the Force helping O'Connor lighten his load though.

Horrible luck for him though, a week out of round 1 having moved to a different nation. Hopefully he will give the Force some help without playing.
 
I reckon Mark Bartholomeuz will play at 10 like he did in the most recent trial, Sam Harris will play at 12 and O'Connor at 15. May well be completely different, hard situation to read now that Pretorius is gone.

I like your confidence in your team, but without Gits and Mitchell you were going to struggle and now you have lost the man who was going to take Gits' place as a strong and experienced head in that backline (i dont rate Pretorius really highly but he is experienced and a good tactician). You couldnt make the finals with Giteau, what's to say you can make it without him?
 
The Reds have more chance of making the finals, and they won't. The Force will not win too many games with Sheehan at half, and Mark Bartholomeuz at 10. That is probably the WORST halves pairing, not to mention Harris who is useless at 12. Put O'Connor at 10, and you never know.
