Has anyone gone to see Andre Rieu at Telstra - read in another thread Rusty went - did you enjoy it?

Did you enjoy it: Yes.

The set was beautiful. The music, lovely and NOT loud. You could hear yourself talk.

Having an access almost everywhere pass meant I was able to move around all 3 levels of the Dome. Those on the oval, close to the stage would have had an excellent view of Andre, but those of us back in the seating bowl had to use the big screens to see him. The Australian female singer (There was a male Australian tenor) was fantastic. Great voice and had a glittering red dress which made it so much easier to see where she was on the stage and give you an idea of where A.R. was.

The tribute to Pavoritti was ok. They sang Nessan Dorma which is a most beautiful song but I found the 3 tenors was two too many. Would have preferred just the 1 voice, but maybe thats just me.

The 6 horses and carriage looked great. The poor bugger who had to run behind the carriage really had his work cut out in the get up he was in.

The 100 pipers came out and the end and marched onto the stage and joined the Vienna dancers, the ice skaters and horses as a cast of 100's of extras.

Visually stunning. Of the music, the Blue Danube was for me the highlight. To hear it played live was just superb.

The audience. Never seen such a "mature" audience before at the Dome. Maybe the Catholic things they have had was similiar. Not sure. The sad. A St John's crew of 50 was kept busy with at least 6 Ambulances required on the Friday night alone.

Will look forward to working Andre Rieu at the Rod Laver Arena next year. I feel where you can actually see the man rather than have to look at the big screen may just increase the enjoyment.

We watched it live through Main Event.......BRILLIANT!!

Not being classical music fans, we hummed and aahhd about booking the concert, but boy, are we glad we did..

Usually those sort of concerts are stiff and starchy, not this one!...it was light hearted, included the audience, just good pure enjoyment.....and wow, what an elabrate set....stunning!

I also enjoyed the Blue Danube the most...it really is a beautiful tune..

To see the audience up dancing was just fantastic, and they weren't all oldies either...lots of younger people there as well..

Any wonder he has taken the world by storm...the man is a genius!!..he knew exactly how to get the crowds involved and make it good fun to enjoy the music..:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Never heard of him Rusty glad ya had a great night out mate your showing your age mate when ya like this sort of music nothing wrong with it each to there own mate lol!;)

Ok,

Showing my age hey????

Well Mate :D I spent all Sunday at the Hi 5 Concert and later this month will be seeing the Wiggles live and in concert!

So what age am I?

BTW: Funny how Andre Rieu and Hi 5 are actually nearly the same. Both involve an audience that requires other people to help with drinking, eating and toileting.

Actually I was disappointed with Hi 5. A very very very structured show with real audience participation just factored in and no more. No interaction like "hello Melbourne" or similiar type talk with the audience. It was just sit down and watch a larger version of the TV show...because we go and go and we dont stop. The show could have been played anywhere. Stevie's line was "Wow, isnt this place amazing" which is generic and bland as you can get.

In fact when Nathan went off script at the end of the second show it completely through the background music and videos out. (We got a thank you Melbourne and Melbourne 'Rocks' and a bye on behalf of Kellie and himself)

More like it with the Snoop. Remember that we are an unsociable club. Many choices but you need to think about listening to Biggie and Tupac...maybe Dr. Dre. Mind you for various reasons you wont get to see them!!

Also now that I think about it they were probably more like anti-social than unsociable but you get my general drift.:D

Saw this on pay TV..it was just magic..and I'm not easily impressed. I will go to see him when he comes back..I never really knew I was a fan of Symphony Orchestra and all that jazz until I tuned in. I'm hooked now. Andre' is a real showman.

The good thing about watching at home is..we get all the close ups etc..but of course live is going to be a treat.

Roll on next year.;):thumbsu:
