There is talk that Carlton will get the job done with their second round pick! I would even consider offering our first rounder for this guy.

After getting McLean at 11, and Warnock last year cheaply, (as well as Judd) other clubs can't keep letting Carlton get these talented players. The seem to have an ability to get players to nominate them, which is something that we don't have.

I am worried about Carlton in a few years time. They are certainly coming. And if you don't think so you are just ignorant.

The same everitt I saw doing not much playing for williamstown a couple of weeks back.....?

No way would I offer a first round pick.

It will take more than that.

Most of you have probably not seen this kid play.
The advantages of AFL Membership is that you can go to 40 games each season. I go to most Friday night games at Etihad.
I remember watching dogs a few times in Everitt's first season.
Believe me, the kid can seriously play. He showed a lot of signs of being a very very good player. He's just been injured. That's why he has not broken back into the dogs line up.
I would be shattered if Carlton got him for a rock bottom deal.
They are building a dangerous team by shafting other clubs and getting away with it. If the dogs give Everitt away cheaply, they are nuts.
We don't need his type of player, but I hope he goes anywhere but Carlton.

Why aren't Collingwood out there trading aggressively like Carlton!?

It's not even trade week yet.....let's not dismiss us before the trade period even begins....We could very well be negotiating with clubs right now. Deals are rarely announced before trade week.

I'm sure the club will address some needs via the trade or draft. List management in accordance with Hine will do what's best for the club.

I don't know what players you wish to target. There aren't exactly "superstars" out of contract. There's Burgoyne but his heart is set on the Hawks. Brock isn't a star but a good player who is headed to Carlton.
We haven't exactly missed out on much there, despite what Mike Sheahan and the media tells us.

Everitt is no big deal either.

As someone has said, we have Goldsack who is very similar to Everitt's playing style but has actually played as a key defender alot better than Everitt.

Fast forward 2 years and Ben Reid is contesting for All Australian and Everitt is still having injury problems, whether at Carlton or the Dogs.

If he is under contract, the dogs should play hardball and not let him go for any less then a 1st rounder, thus ruling Carlton out.

We all know what Collingwood needs, a ruckman and another KPP, whether that be forward or back, and no player up for grabs meets that criteria yet.

If we are to be aggressive, let it be after a player type we actually need, no an outside mid/half forward or an injury prone half back flanker.

The rumours are circling about Collingwood trying to do 1 of 2 deals, either upgrade their draft pick to a top 5 pick and grab John Butcher, or do a trade with Sydney for Darren Jolly, I would accept either, as long as one of our 5-6 untouchables are not traded.

Obviously another uneducated Carlton supporter, who knows nothing about the goings on at another club.

Ben Reid played sensationally well in the VFL finals, hitting every target on the chest, and creating goals from half back in a "Luke Hodge" style that had to be seen to be believed.

In each final he averaged over 20 possessions, while keeping his opponents almost kick less.

He played on Brad Fished out at Preston just before the end of the season, and Fisher didnt touch the ball till moved to half back himself.

Ben Reid will play every game for Collingwood barring injuries next year, and the year after will be an All Australian contender.

Go back and do some research and gain some knowledge of our players before attacking or mocking them again.

You honestly can't say that....at the moment Reid is just a good prospect for us, he is not a guarantee.

He could be an AA player, he could be a solid player, he could be a shit AFL player.

There are no guarantees whatsoever till he has proven himself.

who is the untouchables

My untouchables would be; (off the top of my head)

Didak
Swan
Pendlebury
Cloke (too hard to find another CHF)
Anthony (too hard to find a 50 + goal kicker)
Maxwell (Captain, not trading our captain)
O'Brien
Shaw
Thomas
Wood
Reid

And obviously we wouldn't trade a Sidebottom or a Beams this early in their career after showing so much.

For the right deal I think just about everyone else would be at least considered for a trade.

Seen a fair bit of him as a junior, never really rated him as anything special. Nothing he has done from then has made me change my mind.

You initially said 5-6 untouchables, now you've nearly named a third of the squad. :D

he, like his brother, will take time to grow into his own skin. just seems like the type of player (maybe brennan like) that needs some maturity before he starts playing well. i would take him, but i think we could get a better player for our first rounder.

Well when I actually put some real thought into it, I discovered our "core" group is actually deeper then I expected.

Then you add the experienced players who no one would trade for, and all of a sudden all the negativity goes back to where it belongs, RICHMOND.:p

He has not played a game and we got Suban:thumbsu:

It does seem that the Blues have got out there early, as have the Hawks (more rumours than action) but what are you guys looking for? Ruck, key forward and probably a shut down mid? Who do you think you're targeting?
