I disagree. You have to give something to get something. Winning a trade is not what it is about, improving your team is.

We thought, and rightfully, that Andrew Collins wasn't good enough for us long term and wasn't part of our plans. So we gave him up for someone we could see be part of our long term plans.

Agree with most on here, smartest trade we have made in a long time, since the Jeff Hogg for Broderick, Dundas, Gale and draft pick for Holland trade. (Pretty sure that was the deal).

We do need a medium sized forward, but we need better than Andrew Collins.

gee dude, you are giving more ammo to tugg on his trade JR for Caddy and two first round picks suggestion..it might wake up the slumber party on what can be achieved if you are not to precious and look at the big ****ing picture. ;)

Jeff Hogg is no Jack Riewoldt and Caddy is definitely no Paul Broderick.

You do not trade your stars. Jack is out of form, but he is a bonafide superstar.

How quickly we forget .... Jeff Hogg was a far better player than you give credit for. Those of us old enough remember the old debate whether to play Hoggy at full forward or full back, as he was clearly our best option at both ends. We seriously ripped the Lions off in that trade - it was daylight robbery luring Broderick and Gale for a banged up Hoggy, who was past his prime because of a back injury which the Lions didn't know about!
I wonder how good Riewoldt would have been back in those days when Hoggy carried the team!

"Desperate for something to give us hope " fair go RT . Never in the last 30 years has the club had such a raw talent with such great character. Andy reminds me of one of those brumbys off the man from Snowy River that just leads the team of horses down the cliff.

Courage personified ! Andy Collins is a wild horse that can not be tamned and although he hasn't really performed at Carlton even a novice can see that after next year his career lies in THE UFC.

:)I'LL pose a question ..... would many of us even have known Collins was on our list for the first few years if it wasn't for Rusty Trombone constantly pumping up his tyres???
He became a cult hero of a few via Big Footy.
Rusty could have easily started spruiking an unknown Daniel Connors or Dean Putt the next year, instead of Collins.

He's had one great year out of 5. That does not make him a bonafide superstar.

lets just sit this one out Goldie. By and large we have only seen 1play seniors from our current intake of draftees. Lets wait and see if one of them can make HF flank his. My money is on Gibson Turner. Although just a rookie, his journey to get where he is atm, suggests this kid wants in. He has the brilliance and skill, so he might be that "one" rookie get that makes the grade and becomes a household name.
What I really want to see is the tiges to allow these youngsters get a good grounding at VFL level, without pushing them into seniors to fast. Let them build tanks etc and build on their current skills, learn the Dimma game plan and when and if they tick the boxes, let them loose in the seniors, with "immediate" impact, not the usual shit that has us making excuses etc ab out why they had 3 kicks in game 1. ;)

As for the mid sized forward type I have hopes that O'Hanlon could be that type of player for us at 189cm & 87kg he is both taller and heavier than Collins and I believe he has much better footskills than Collins as well. Just needs to be given time to develop a tank and work on a few areas of his game and he could be the answer to our problems.

This.

O'Hanlon :thumbsu:
