He was a stand-out in our loss to Box Hill Hawks today. Definitely has a lot of potential, which I must admit, wasn't my first assumption of the bloke.

I think his biggest enemy this year has been his physical immaturity, I think we can expect to see him next season contributing in quite a few games.

I thought you were a little hard on him, especially considering how many games he had played or more to the point, hadn't played.

Stephen Wells is a good recruiter, all our recruits can play, it is just that they are poorly coached and we aren't seeing what they are capable of.

I would love to see Mackie get a run this season. He could be eased into AFL in a forward pocket or something b/c as has been pointed out he is still very light. He has been getting better and better with each game he has played in the VFL. I think 'The Smokey' might just turn out to be a master stroke. Put it this way, he is no worse IMO than anyone taken after him in last years draft.

Finnin is another one who should be played this year. The kid has great hands, is tall, atheletic and reads the game so well. He also has beautiful foot skills. While he does lack intencity at times I think if he could put on another 10kgs im convinced he would have all the tools to be a gun Center Half Back or Forward. If Harley misses again I think Finno should be a chance this week against the Pies

Callan is the other one I'm keen on. He was playing quite well but im not sure how hes gone lately. It would be good to see him in the team but he is probably behind D.Johnson and Clarke ( I know, i know) in terms of getting a game.

Callan was listed in the best players for the VFL side today and he's been in the best players for most games in the last 6 weeks.

I'm tipping he'll get a game this week at the expense of Bartel.
Mackie might be a chance of a senior game in the next few weeks.

Wish i had your faith.

Timmy should have been in the team a month ago, so i can't say i'm overly confident of him getting a game anytime soon.

Mackie should be in line for a game soon, but I can't see Bomber squeezing him into the setup.

I don't know why - he just seems destined to be wrapped in cotton wool until 2004.

Have you seen Mackie lately?

I'd love to see him play soon, but the kid is almost anorexic.

He has absolutely no muscle delevopment, and thus has no strength.

Gets pushed off the ball in the VFL.

His size is the only thing holding him back. When he gets the ball he is quality. That will disappear soon as Bomber gets his grubby hands on him though and turns him into a lazy, wayward kick and someone who would much prefer to handpass backwards, sideways, to an opponent etc.

I know it's a big call, but Mackie is the classiest player on our list.

However, there are more problems then just his lack of size.

He is VERY timid, like Peter Riccardi timid. He has plenty of time, but we do need him to develop a bit of mongrel.

Then shouldn't he be given a chance before the end of the year to prove himself?

By playing him in the seniors, do you think he's the sort of kid who would respond positively and say 'right - that's the sort of aggression I need to display'?

Definitely mate, definitely.

Yes, but i don't think he has it in him, to be honest.

I can't fault his attitude, or his willingness to learn, but realistically he's never going to have the mongrel we so desperately need.

Your side has had the same problems as us. You can't teach players to be hard and tough.
Fortunately for your lot, you managed to get Hammill. Wish we could do something similar.

Skinny as a rake make - but so is Leigh Montagna at St Kilda and he's plying his wares quite impressively.

I think, if he gets a run in the seniors, he may be more encouraged to think "Right - that's where I need to be".

...Something to reward him for his good work in the VFL, and a taste of what is to come.

Now Hamill is a beefy lad, and wouldn't be much taller than Bartel...*hint hint*

Could Bartel alter his role to be a mobile tank roaming around, steaming through packs?

Is he too small?

A Hamill-esq player....hmmmm...Stewart Dew?

Port fans accepted my Matt Maguire trade for him!

Mackie is 14cm taller, and only 7kgs heavier. Not the best comparison.

Players of 192cm and 79kgs are going to struggle at senior level.

Nope. Jimmy hardly goes near the opposition, so he has no chance of becoming our hard man.

We've got two guys ready to fill a Hamill role.

Josh Hunt has missed most of the year through injury, but the guy is an absolute tank.
He is 185cm tall, and weighs 96kgs

Another hardnut is Tweek Moloney. He has the hardness of Garry Hocking.

Hunt sounds like a ripper!

Do you think he will be capable of keeping his weight under check?

Yeah, he's actually quite ripped, which is a surprise given the raw numbers.

He hasn't been given much of a chance at the top level (15 games), but in the VFL, he breaks open packs regularly whilst he is the best kick on our list.

Despite the injuries mate, would you say he's been a victim of the rotation policy?

I honestly can't tell you that I've seen or heard much of him.

All I know is that Geelong desperately needs to park a bullet-proof object (No Matty, when wearing the hoops, you're not bulletproof :p) on the field.

An intimidator is what's required. Does Hunt like to throw his weight around?

Victim of a coach who plays favourites.

Prior to his injury, we were all calling for his inclusion.

His exclusion was baffling.

Does he ever.

He doesn't do the sly, dirty things, but he definitely makes the opposition know he's around.

He has well and truly earnt his nickname of Tank.

Hunt is a gun, I love watching hime play. Like Phatandphreaky said, he's a victim of a coach who plays favourites...

Definitely won't be seeing him this year though, poor Josh is out for the season with some injury.

Josh Hunt is the one player on our list who is built like a Brisbane Lions player, and he's a decent kick as well. Hunt should be given the kick out duties in the seniors as he rarely misses his targets.

Hunt still has a year on his contract to run doesn't he?

The club would have to be able to get something good in return if they trade him because i think he will be a good player when given the chance.

I hope Geelong don't get rid of Josh he is one tough nut that we desperately need playing in the seniors. And he hasn't really been given a go at the top level yet.
