Watching him play against Freo i fair dinkum thought it was his old man out there. He's an absolute clone of his old man the way he runs and attacks the footy. Brought back a lot of memories. I was devastated when Geoff left us. Was my favourite player and for him to go to the scum was devastating.

The number 4 on the back gave me goose bumps.

So true IITB it was just like seing a young GS the run the kick etc lets hope he brings the same results to us..... but jeez that kid deledio will be something

Graham was exellent last week madtiger, drop back really well, he will stay

And Chaffey was excellent in taking Carr out of the game. I would also suggest that we will need some harder heads in the next 2 weeks and St. Kilda and Port won't be anywhere near as soft as Freo.

Raines hasnt imprest me at all, i think where better off as a team playing chaffey and graham while they have some form, the kids will get a go later on in the year

I know what u mean about Raines snr.
He was a class act and one of my all time faves.
Was a modern day type player in the 70s/80s and defined the meaning of the word "Smooth"
He would take off from the wing and glide it home like a muttha fuhka.
Reliable ??
Please !

Never did reach the same heights at colonicwood.

I was absolutely gutted IITB

.... the romance of hearing the names Roach and Raines in the side again

Warms the cockels of an old broken heart

I still cop schit off my mum to this day from when i was ten i told her i wanted my hair cut the same as Geoff Raines back in 1980 . Nothing there to part down the middle now

People are saying here Andrew isn`t showing much , you`ve got to remember we got him for nothing and to be playing senior footy at this stage is a bloody good effort .

They are not all going to step in like Lids has

Early days yet but he hasn't shown me anything to get excited about.

You're not easily pleased. He seems to have the smarts and shows qualities of his old man. Could be a real smokey in a year or two.

He got 11 possesions in about 50 minutes of football , seems pretty impressive to me. Needs to really work on his left side though but other than that he is coming along rather nicely..

And was 1 of only 3 people not to have done a clanger.

I'll be impressed and think he's on his way when he gets twenty odd touches of the ball for a couple of weeks consecutively.

Getting 11 touches coming off the bench is a bare minimum required of a player.

With everyone fit he is would struggle to make our 22.

At 19 and in his 2nd year I wouldn't be worried about the lad just yet. Been decent thus far.

Agree. He's been ok. Could go on to be good, just saying he hasn't done anything special yet. Early days yet to be making any solid judgement on him.

I suspect that the likes of Hamill, Guerra, Gehrig etc might just attempt to make patè out of our junior Raines.

Let's bring back up a bigger, angrier body if there's one available, and give Rainesy the opportunity to ply his wares at VFL level.

He's had a taste of the big league ... now let him hone what he'd learnt in a less intense environment for a fortnight.

go over your stats.... of early gamers finding their feet youll find very few wind up with 11-12 touches in a full game letalone less than a half....please get some perspective before responding with such drivel

If you think a second year player getting 11 touches in a game is something to applaud then by all means, be my guest.

I'm not having a go at Raines, I just think people are a little too keen to hug his nuts.

As i said, he's been ok, but hasn't done anything special yet. I'm willing to give him time before I make a proper judgement on him as a player.

Quite the acid tongue pal .... but i tend to agree with your point .

GOJJ is worried about the blow torch being applied to him but the ST Kilda heavyweights ? Just line him up on Fiona .

Hamill , Gehrig and Guerra will have thier hands full elsewhere

Considering where he was taken in the draft ( 70 something from memory, right from leftfield , not even expected to be drafted ) I think it is a fantastic effort to be playing senior footy at this stage of his career .

No secret he is very highly regarded at punt rd.

Someone can correct me if i am wrong but wasn`t he still eligable to be taken in the 2004 draft but we took him a year early , same as Jackson ?

Not smoking his Johnson just yet John , just satified with his solid progress
