personally i love this guy.
he's hard at the footy, is courageous and is what the RFC is all about.
hes been unlucky with injuries in the past, but could we see him taking another step up on the way to become one of our regulars?
he dominated the intra club game, with 10 touches in the first quarter.
thoughts?

Loved him innitially to

Burst onto the scene as a bargain basement low end draft pick and was a real bonus .... ran straight at the pill and instantly endeared himself to the Richmond faithfull

Problem was he proved to be a bit of a "one trick pony" and the opposition soon worked him out. Teams were able to read him like a book and his effectiveness wore off pretty quickly ... IMHO he struggled to re-invent his style and he was eventually dropped then injured .

Would love to see him return to the form he showed when he first came onto the scene but i doubt it .

With our list becoming stronger and our depth increased , he really needs to have a solid year otherwise i reckon this one will be his last at Punt rd.

Personally I think Rainse is a front runner, but in a good way. He runs straight and fast, isn't good at the twisting and turning, but in a good team he'll get an extra second to weigh up his options as he enjoys more protection and better structures.

The better we get the better he gets the better we get (etc).

IMO he is our best small defender. We have enough rebounding HBF's so this year I would like to see him play on the oppositions best smaller forwards.

He's had a big summer. Looked great at the training sessions i was at. He was excellent in the intra club and i think he will have a pretty big season. He was matched up against Nick Reiwoldt a couple of seasons ago and competed very well. He is a bit of a jake king but he can compete overhead. I think he is best 22 for sure and will add some heat to competition for back 6 spots this year.

hopefully he really makes his mark this year. whether thats in the middle or backline, he has had a good pre season so hopefully he adds something to our team.

Agree he is in our best team, playing on Reiwoldt just shows once again how we are always outsized down back, now with development of talls down back (McGuane,Thirsty) Rainesy's role will really suit him running off CHB.

Excellent post. He certainly was a one trick pony with his take em on at all costs play. They also soon worked out that he has little or nor left side and always tried to kick the ball. He wasn't overly accoutnable and sides exposed this along with his insistace of trying to break tackles and kick it long. He also became a srious turnover merchant.

Let's hope he has improved these aspects of his his game.
