What did you think of Steve Waugh's decision not to bowl Andy Bichel in the second innings? I know he wasn't superb in the first innings, but he did pick up a couple of handy wickets. I can't help but think that Steve Waugh has seen the performance of his golden boy Brett Lee against Tasmania and wants him back in the side. The second innings did end quickly, and McGrath and Warne are two superb last innings bowlers, but if it was Brett Lee and not Bichel playing in the Test he surely would've been given a crack at the tail-enders - we've seen it often before.

I agree

Hmmm. I too am becoming increasingly cynical about the Captain.

However, is this simply the result of too much success? Have we become complacent aboiut our Cricket and started to look inwards for things to complain about?

Empires are brought down from within, not from without.

Hmmmm (strokes beard).

**** off he wasn't much good in the 1st innings.. he had two or three chances, two very simple, dropped.. the other players around him let him down. 2nd days play he was the only bowler that looked really threatening.
He's good for more than 3 overs a day and is consistant.
Not to sound agro but I get pretty testy with the poor wrap Bichel seems to get from a lot of people.. he's one of the most underrated players in Australian cricket.
In the second innings he didn't really have all that much time, they didn't exactly last long after all.
As I said in another thread, to bring Lee in they'll probably drop Bichel again and it irks me to no end.. We'll see Gillespie break down again or Lee fall back into average form and once again the decent lad gets screwed.

I wasn't knocking Bichel. I rate him much higher than Lee.

My apologies.. as I said I'm a tad quick to fire up over players like Bichel getting screwed.. long history of watching QLD players dudded at the hands of New South Welchman that had no business being in the side ahead of some of the players we produced.

I am thinking the same thing. That type of action from Steve Waugh would not surprise me.

When he is going to admit he isn't up to it anymore? 2 failures with the bat but Mr. Selfish will not do the team thing. Anyone could captain Australia at the moment and I feel Waugh doesn't deserve his place in the current side.
