Tivendale IS retiring, just hasnt announced it yet. Wouldnt be suprised to see Johnson retire too.

Hyde, Raines, King and Pettifer shopped for trades or delisted. Polo may be delisted/traded. Howat is gone, as will be Sylvester IMO.


Meyer and JON are the interesting ones. Id hold on to Meyer though.

If we could get a top 30 pick for Jon, Hyde, Raines, King or Pettifer either alone or packaged together, we'd be mad not to take it.

Why do we need many more, we are done rebuilding(For the most part), we have a great bunch of youngsters and our older players are playing very well.

We don't need to be having 5, 6 or 7 draft choices this year, just a few under 40 and then stay with the kids we have.

Collins, Connors, Edwards, White, Thursfield, Rance, McGuane, Morton, Hughes, Riewoldt, Graham, Pattison, Polo, Tambling, Collard, Putt and Gourdis will get more time next year and the ones who haven't played will most likely get a game or two(Or more) in the seniors to prove their worth.

I agree do a little trading , pick up a few good kids but why make wholesale changes when we've put the time and effort into alot of these kids. They have the talent , they wouldn't of been such high picks if they didn't. As our team grows they will grow also. Just like the youngsters in Firsts. They will develop together and improve year by year. We will play finals for sure this next year and most possibly this year. We can go from 16th to 1st in 2 years. I wish we could but unforntunately 16th to 8th to 5th is far more realistic and we should all be happy with that for know.

I might be taking that comment a bit too harshly but I will take the extreme opposite side to get my point across - I disagree, no team can ever be finished rebuilding, you just have to keep on building and building. I just hope we do not do a 2001 where we didn't get rid of enough players, I know we have got a different team but look at Geelong - they got rid of seven players last year. We can't just keep everyone we have to take some calculated risks. Out of the players above the underlined are the ones I would consider getting rid of, the italics mean I haven't seen that player play much.

Yes trading would be the way to go, just leave it to the club to pick which players because I am stumped with who to trade (King, Meyer, Jackson?). As with the high picks, you are a tad off.

That is a fair ratio of our young players at high picks (Pick 20 at most). The high picks are Deledio, Cotchin, Meyer, Polo, Rance, Riewoldt, Tambling and to a lesser extent Polak and Shultz (in that list because I put Tuck and Newman in the other one)
We still need to rebuild more, manage our list well and trade for picks not recycled players.

What I was saying in regards to the rebuild was that we don't need to the get rid of 7-8 draft 5-6.

The top teams build and build and of course I agree that is the stratagy, but I believe we are done building our team to the extent that we only need to be drafting 3-4 players onto the Senior list each year.
