Will Angus be a good midfielder for the Bombers...
Some say could be up there with the best, others not so sure... What's your opinion?

I think so, I was disappointed when Adelaide did not pick him up, only question makr will be about his size, will he always be fighting out of his division? and will this effect his ability to be a match winner or will he just be an honest tryer?

Looks like from what i have seen to be a very good footballer indeed. He isnt a huge bloke but is young has that grunt to play AFL already. Mark Harvey had an interesting thing to say about him 1 not night on white line fever, i think they both ended up having what started as mucking around fight but Monfries didnt take a step back. I think from what i have seen he will be a long term AFL Footballer he has what it takes, but of course things can change.

monfries will be a great midfielder for essendon, he goes head over the ball at a young age which sheedy likes
I think every coach and supporter likes that. For a relatively small player he is tenacious and skilled.

A great ball-getter. When he gets Matthew Lloyd's build he'll be a champion. Adelaide stuffed up
Bendigo or Essendon would'nt have minded if he played for Sturt yesterday. He would've played better than he did for Bendigo, where he only got about 1 kick. Sturt lost by 7 points in a balltearer.

on to the subject.

very pleased with angus, couragious, uses the ball well and a excellent tackler.

a very dedicated player, he is only slightly built atm so a few pre seasons in the gym will do him well and he can start knocking over players like j johnson when he goes in hard for the ball.

he was apparently tagged for most of the game yesterday, not bad for a first year player to be shown that sort of respect by the opposition.

He will be a great player for Essendon, will play 200 to 250 games for us.

He won't be a champion like Hird, but he will be a very great player similar to how Gary O'Donnell was a great player for us.

As for his body size I don't think he wil be at his peak shape for another 4 or 5 years and when he is at the age 22 to 28 he will be an absolute gun for us.

Nice one strawb... Think the kid will be a real good footballer to be honest, in SA they rate him to be the next Luke Ball, big wraps for him and dont know if he can be that good, but would love it if he was.. Agree with the Gary O'Donnell comparison actually, real good one.

Not sure if he is like Gary O Donnell .But this is from someone who has seen only a handful of his games,he seems a bit quicker and more aggressive to me, maybe he will have the leadership qualities Gary had which would be an added bonus. I think that players that play straight up in their first traded yr and do well without the muscle will succeed. We will swap u back Shane Harvey for him :D

The next Luke Ball will be Luke Ball's child, if he names him Luke, or if anyone with the Ball surname name's their child Luke.

In all seriousness though,
In a team like Essendon, Collingwood, Carlton etc. if a kid shows the slightest anything they're the next big thing.

Wait untill he proves himself, then get excited. I know it is hard for Essendon supporters to find things to get excited about... but yeha.

This is from someone who's side cried like babies because they were to dumb to block the path of the most dangerous player on the ground at the time. You have got to be joking.
If Essendon supporters were to get excited, at the moment it would be about Stanton, gets plenty of the ball and plenty of space.
Noticed you guys are getting so excited about Nathan Ablett without him really doing anything yet, One quarter of football dont make ya a superstar.
Yeah, we do have to look for something exciting, thats what everyone does with future star players, including Geelong.
Your telling me that Carlton supporters shouldn't be excited by the prospect of Jarrad Waite or Andrew Walker?
Or that Collingwood fans shouldnt be too wrapped up in Egan?
Or that Bulldog fans should not rate any of their side yet?
Delidio?
Griffen?
Trav Cloke?
These guys have nothin cos they haven't really proven it yet?
Its all prospective, from what we have seen, they all have reasons for each sides supporters to get excited about... This time I asked about Monfries.

Deledio and Griffen are the only two worthy of getting excited about on that list.

Once all the rest of the guys you mention consistently do whatever they did to make you say their name in this thread, then you should start creaming your jocks.

So tactful, shows your insight into nothing...

The question was about whether prospectively Monfries "COULD" be a future star, if the question was Is he a star, then I could understand what you were talking about, but seeing as though you obviously know all, maybe I should just sit back and watch all the insightful topics that you put up for discussion....

Ill be waiting with baited breath...

I do know all.
I'm at work now so can't be bothered pwning newbies with facts, but i'll show you the way once I get the chance.
I'm sorry our difference of opinion has hurt you so much, I didn't realize you were that easy to upset. What do you say when Mummy doesn't let you wear your pink jammies to beddy byes?

Lighten up, opinions are like ass holes, everybody has one. This thread was open for an objective opinion.

I reckon Gussy will be a very good player for us. He's hard at it and doesn't back off from a challenge. He'll always go into packs head first and won't come out unless he has the ball. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him next year.

I don't rate Tenace.

As a matter of fact. I don't really rate N. Ablett either for the other n00bz having a crack.

He might have all the potential in the World, people just shouldn't get ahead of themselves, I'd hate to have to remind everybody how wrong they are if he turns out to be another Jobe eh.
