Anybody gone solar yet

Im thinking of buying a solar hot water service.
My lekky one has been in service at least 10 years and without trying to pre-emp failure, thats not a bad run.

Has anybody purchased one?
What did it cost?
Jgetta rebate?
Roof tank or ground tank?

you will get a better rebate

Roof tank will depend on strenght of roof and space on ground.
Dont know the sums for Melb but in Central Qld you get nearly 100%
No boost required

Looked at it in Qld but in the end those small on demand systems Bosch/Rinnai ones worked out more economical and probably less gas

Update:
Only SA and WA can get a $700 rebate at present (but only until June 2008)
Apparently rebates no longer apply for the other states.


$5,049 = ball park purchase and installFor a 340 litre/2 panel/Rheem with a ground tank

- $ 700 state rebate
- $ 720 Renewable Energy Credits rebate
- $ 1000 Lil Johnny Howards Youtube vote catcher

= $ 2629
