ANZAC Day Clash - Never Let It Die

Hi guys,

Firstly, bad luck about ANZAC day, you guys shouldnt feel too bad, under a new coach and with the injuries you have. and also, you've smashed us before on ANZAC day....so i'm not THAT sorry...

But I just wanted to drop in and say, I for one hope the Collingwood v Essendon ANZAC tradition continues for a long long time. Watching all these other supporters whinging and demanding we share the day gives me great joy.

In fact, its the only time in the year that I look favourable upon your club . I look at the event that we have created, which is now dubbed to be the biggest game of the year outside the GF, and I feel a sense of pride between Collingwood and Essendon, two great Victorian Clubs.

Anyways, no real reason to this post other than me expressing how lucky I am to have my club part of this great tradition, and I hope you guys feel the same way.

And I shudder to think of the AFL stripping away this day from us and handing it to some other clubs.

I don't think it will happen.

But Channel 10 has made this into a grand final like coverage. I heard their commentary team suggesting that because we haven't had a close game for a while, it should be taken from us.

What idiots. The reason it has become so big is because of the teams Essendon and Collingwood. All of a sudden everyone wants to play on that day.

Essendon and Collingwood supporters are very fortunate to be able to see their team play the ANZAC day match, and supporters of other teams need to get over it.

It's getting bigger and bigger every year and I have heard some buffoons say it should be last years grand finalists.............because Geelong and Port would draw 88,999 wouldn't they

It just shows that no matter how badly the sides may be fairing, it'll always draw a big crowd.

Supporters of teams not involved would do best to just find another day to target!

I find it amusing how other teams want to play on Anzac day because of the big crowd and atmosphere they think they will get aswell.

REALITY CHECK morons:

the reason why the crowd is so big is because Essendon and Collingwood are involved and the atmosphere is soo good because the both clubs have a RIVALRY.

The white supremacist site "Stormfront" has a thread saying they are disgusted that the AFL has hi-jacked Anzac Day, just to exploit it to make money & it is disrespectful to the Diggers.

If I wasn't banned, I would have told the nuffies, that the RSL sanction it & that the Diggers actually played footy on the battlefields.

I love going to Anzac Day, and when we get both teams close to the top of the ladder then they will be amazing again.
The last four have been a tad disapointing, skills wise and this years one was by far the worst i have seen, but i know that both teams love it and they will both rise next year.
As to other teams wanting it? TOO BAD, its ours! we created it, we draw the crowds and if they want a special game, make it yourselves. We're not stopping you!

Realistically the only other fixture that would consistently draw 90,000 over a number of years, even on ANZAC day is Collingwood v Carlscum.
