Would be interested to know if anyone can supply the APS footy premiers table for as far as you can go back. Assume Xavier has won plenty. Is this info anywhere, or does anybody know it?

Great stuff Davo. Xavs need to break a disturbing drought. Think it may be between them and Scotch in 07.
Suprised to see carey win it in 99. Didnt think they would ever have the numbers to compete with bigger schools.

Nice read.

Hahahaha. St.Kevins only have on flag! That just proves they shouldnt be playing football in the APS.

Whats making people think Xavier and Scotch are going to be such a driving force this year? The competition between this years, year 12's from year 7 has been quite even.

hey buddy lets look at this logically OK?
st kevins joined the APS in the late 50's 1958 i think
they did not win jak-**** till the 90's. a pretty piss-poor effort i will admit. but back then st kevins had nowhere near the amount of students. and by the time we could get competitive every other school had been established as well.
lets take scotch who have won a total of 27 premierships - a good effort. however 19 of those premierships were from 1958, when the APS only had 5 - 6 schools playing. a lot easier to win wouldn't you agree? with the first 2 premierships for example there were only 2 teams - u and melb grammar. (this argument also applies for melb. grammar as well) now lets look at the schools who started from 1958.

Hailebury - 7 (again scholarships) and now lets look at the real teams.
Brighton 2
Caulfield 2
Skevs 1
Carey 1

although scotch have won an amazing number of premierships you really need to look at it in context. it was much harder to win premierships when every other school had established a working football order and system and also sooo many more students attending the school. i think you need to look at the premierships won from 1958 onwards - that is a fair analysis of the premierships.

Yeh but for yr 11 Scotch and Xavier have been dominant forces, not that we've seen Hailiburys newest purchases.

Scotch beat Xavier last year at 10A level and 1sts, so i reckon Scotch by a nose. Will b an awesome game though!

When the Xavier 10A played Scotch for the 2nd time last year which was basically the Grand Final Xavier smashed them, they had a poor season last year but this was the one game they took seriously and it showed, Scotch did everything in there power to keep it close but where not even close

i think st kevins beat xavier last year and then xavier beat st kevs. but our 10As werent that strong i think they were only 7-2 or 7-3. only lost narrowly to scotch but were just that little bit behind both teams. shud be competitive in the open section this yr.

you say that,
haileybury 7 (agian scholoships)
well haileybury have one 2 premiships since people say we have baught people so we still have 5 which is higher than the list u have said

mate seriously, no1 will ever recognise hailebury's premierships cause u will always be remembered as the school who ruined APS sport, no matter what kind of bull$h!t ur sports captain says.

when st kevins 10a beat xavier, xavs had about 8 players out through injury and others with 1st XVIII, not to take anything away from SKC who did play very well in that match,

as i sed they were the 3rd best team behind scotch and xavs. thats how a lot of the juniors is looking atm. scotch xav and skevs are dominating yr10 through to 7. mite see some changes to the ladder soon....

hopefully lol :D

As many people have already pointed out , you are a tool.
I went to Skevs in the mid 90's and the thing that the biiger schools in the APS dont understand is that being the battlers in the competition is a great thing and its what fired us up. Taking on the giants like SC ,XC MGS and HC was something we looked forward to and more often than not we belted these schools. Skevs joined the APS in 1958 because XC said they didint want to be the only mick's in the APS. The only catholic school at the time that could and would join was SKC which was then still only a small Christian Brothers College. It took a few decades to catch up to the established schools but particularly in the last decade or so Skevs have made inroads , they've won 4 cricket flags a footy premiership (home grown and not scholarships or aborigines from the top end) rugby premierships , basketball and now the APS aths.It may take a few years but they will have success again at footy - the tide always turns.

Good on you mate.
I was really impressed with hat you wrote in that post.
Good luck.
