After all the trades in the off season it seemed to be generally considered that Golden State would slip back to the bottom of the Pacific Division. With the loss of Jamison Arenas Boykins etc.

But IMO they are a better team for them going, far more balanced and a fair bit more depth.

Picked up a quality point guard in Nick Van Exel, Jason Richardson has really come on and
Mike Dunleavy jr is just getting better and better all the time.

Have a solid bench with players like Cardinal Claxton and Cheaney all able to come on and provide a spark, Dampier has or for the most part of the season has been outstanding at Centre Foyal's return when ever that may be will help and they have done all this with Troy Murphy just returning now for his first game.

Not to mention to me anyway Robinson be very serviceable and vast improvment of Pietrus when he get a bit of game time.

I think that for all that happened they are a better team for it, and have to be a chance for a 7-8th playoff birth. Very hard in the west as i am aware but they have the squad to challenge.

So what are other peoples opinions Golden State are better or worse team than last year?

Pretty much the same as last year, however had they kept last year's squad, they'd be even better right now.

I'll third that, they might be better in the longer run because of the trade but that remains to be seen.

they are just average, still lacking that one player who can take them to the next level.Jamison couldn't do it,Dunleavy probably wont,Van Exel is solid but aging.Unfortunatly they need to start making cap-space or lose real bad or they will be treading water for another 10 years.

Straight from the mouth/keyboard of a Warrior fan, and a long-suffering one at that...

Encouraged by the results of the season so far, and some players, such as Richardson and Dampier, among others, have shown some glimpses of promise.

But I'm reserving judgement for what all that means for the long-term future of the team-- eg., playoffs this year-- until at least the three-quarter mark of the season.

For the moment, though, I'd say that things are moderately and cautiously optimistic.

What do Warrior fans think about a trade rumour of Dampier beign traded to Portland with some change for Rasheed Wallace?

Pretty good question, actually.

I could be wrong about this, but doesn't Rasheed Wallace have a bit of a checkered past with the Blazers and/or the authorities in Oregon? If the latter's true, then Oakland might be the worst place for him (I would know, I lived in the East Bay while I was going to university several years ago).

He's a bit of a fair player, can score some points and grab some boards, don't get me wrong. But if he comes with some baggage, and baggage that can potentially spoil the chemistry of the team and what they're building right now, I think I'd pass on that deal. But that's just me.

Right now, I think the Warriors are headed in the right direction, and no "quick-fix" trades are going to fast-track that continued improvement.

In a lot of ways, and chemistry-building aspects being among them, this is a franchise which still has yet to recover from the Chris Webber-Don Nelson row of almost ten years ago. Picking up Rasheed Wallace is a risk I wouldn't want to see the Warriors taking right now.

Well once they get Murphy to full strength again theyre going to be that much more solid upfront, and Murphy and Dampier complement eachother well.

I havent seen warriors this year but they are saying Dunleavy hasnt been too good this season but I think getting rid of Jamison and giving the main roles to the young guns was a good decision because J-Rich, Dunleavy and Murphy are quality players to build a team around.

I also think they may have one of the best defenders in the league in a yr or two in Mickael Pietrus.. a steal at pick #11.

Yeah... just a bit.

As amazingly frustrating as this side is to watch i cant stop supporting them, case in point after being easilly beaten by to pretty poor teams in Miami and Orlando in its last 2 matches

The Warriors have just gone into half time against the Lakers with a 15 point lead this after being 8 down at quarter time

Opened the 2nd quarter on a 11-0 run and proceeded to outscore the lakers 38-15 for the quarter:eek:

Still a half to go i know but if they can ever become at all consistant they will be a pretty damn good team

12 points up at 3/4 time come on Warriors gimme an early christmas present :D

Was 21 lakers made a run in the middle of the quarter, have a bad feeling think the warriors will drop another

Lakers their own worst enemy if they lose, 10/22 from the free throw line
Shaq an Payton mainly to blame combining for 3/14
and shaq has all 3 :D of 10 but he still has 3
