Stunned when we passed with pick 81. We lost 10 players off the senior list from 2006, we have promoted 1 rookie, and taken 6 in the ND. That leaves 3 spots by my maths.

So do we take THREE in the preseason? Or when can we promote another rookie, Jackson or maybe Aisake?

Denis said we'll take 2 in PSD i.e. Ackland plus someone else. We'll take 2 Rookies I suspect. Not exactly sure though. :)

Asked the same question myself and think I've figure it out. We had 39 seniors last year with Kouta on the veterans list. This gave us 39 seniors and five rookies for a total of 44.
This year we can move Kouta into the 38 (because his wage is no longer a problem) and have 6 rookies for a total of 44.

So there's two possible configurations: 39 seniors and 5 rookies, which means 3 picks in the PSD and three picks in the rookie draft.
OR
38 seniors and 6 rookies, which means 2 picks in the preseason draft and four picks in the rookie draft.

Looks like the second option is 95% certain. But was thinking I wouldn't be particular surprised if we went with the first option - 3 PSD picks. We need to pick up another depth ruckman (Keating, Cloke etc) and they might be really keen on trying out Zantuck as well. Both of course of 1 year contracts...would give more flexibility in delistings next year.

Yeah I think your 2nd option is more likely. I think it's fantastic how we've offloaded a lot of deadwood this year. This maximises our chance of unearthing a great player with latter draft and rookie picks. Last years rookie selections - Flint and Jackson - were sensational choices. Hopefully we'll do as well this time. :)

38 maximum on main list 6 maximum rookies

Rod Jameson retired at the end of 99 ...
:o

Crosisca has been lobbying Hughes, however, on the rookie draft.

"I've got Michael Jamieson training down here from the Roosters and he's a 20 year-old who missed the draft a couple of years ago and has developed well and put on some weight.

"He's a good size and he's got all the capabilities of being able to go a little bit further. I think there's scope in the rookie draft to manoeuvre more experienced players, not just necessarily guys out of the TAC Cup."

We took a HUGE step foward on Saturday with the recruiting of quality young kids in Gibbs, Hampson, Grigg, Austin, Benjamin & Anderson.

If Carlton decide to draft Zantuck then they would want to justify their selection to their members because Zantuck has nothing going for him and I believe it will be a HUGE step backwards *shakes head* :thumbsd:

I'm on the fence here, and it isn't comfortable!

On one hand, I'd be happy with us either taking a punt on Jamieson, or Perry if he's still there. I think we need to recruit a reserve key back.

Having said that, I'm not sure either of them are up to it, but I'd prefer to try and develop young blokes than go for Zantuck.

Yet Zantuck can provide a bigger, harder body, but is he up to it?

Time will tell!! I guess I'm not fussed either way, as whoever we pick up will most likely only provide support to our current list.
