Having Watched Him Play In The Scorpions The Last Three Weeks He Needs More Experience Not Quite Up To AFL Level Just Yet

It seems that Ross Lyon and the selectors (remember that there is a structure in place - this is not a one man show) are of the belief that Armitage is not yet ready to play.
I've seen Armitage play against men and he was not daunted by their size or ferocity. He has been BOG playing in the Casey Scorpions again against men. So I would say that is not the reason. Maybe Armitage still has a way to go to gain the strength required, or the stamina. I do remember that last preseason game for Armitage where he was played mainly in defence and wasn't particularly good. It might be an attitude thing (I doubt this) or it might just be that his stay in Casey is to learn a specific skill or aspect of the game.
Whatever the reason, I applaud him / them for sticking to their beliefs, under what must be by now, enormous pressure to play the kid.
We fans want the best for the club and we are all eager to see our gun recruit debut and do well for the club. But RL and the selectors also have the best interests of the club at heart - and they are in the position to know what is best for us at the moment.

He has got to be getting close now (named a reserve). I still have him in my dream team as I belive he will appear regularly around the middle of the season and make a decent contribution.
