Have to agree with kingbrown's views here. I think it's hard for a VAFA club to keep their young talent mainly due to suburban club in semi-pro leagues like the SFL offering huge amounts of money to young VAFA players to try their luck in semi-pro football. Also if the player sign on to a club like ie Dingley, then he has to perform at every game he plays in at top form, and a drop in form could see him back either to the Reserves or being left on the scrap-heap. Young players should enjoy their football at a level which they are comfortable at with their mates, not lured by a cash-rich club with promises (ie automatic spot in the seniors, offer of $600-800 a game) and going to a club he doesn't know of at all.

Jase, please don't get into coaching, if a young player is relegated to the magoos or the scrap heap after one bad or sub par game no one will play senior footy. I understand your sentiments around dollars putting blokes under pressure but thats how we sort the men from the boys, it's why Afl footy is known as "elite" and why so few make the grade. Fortunately for average park players like myself we have our great comp to try and get a kick in.

Hmmm......interesting Harps.

I take it from the above that your boots have been rescued from the bin you threw them in around early October, and are itching to jump onto your feet again in 2008?

Nice one. :thumbsu:

A word of caution Frase ... Don't underestimate the leg speed of Harps.

The thought of lining up on Fitzroy legend D.Hannam is proving hard to resist, let's just hope my hammies can hold together to round 5. I still have a score to settle with some Aquinas blokes as well, but I'll save that for the D1 thread.

Best thing is that every player in Melbourne has a choice in regard to their football status i.e. play in ammos, play for the $$, play with ya mates or seek higher challenges etc . We continually hear snips about the chase for $$, players going from one club to another for X reason...I think we should step back and say, eh! at least we have choices. Imagine if every league was like the Ammo's - imagine the rorts, accusations etc etc. or imagine if every league pays their players and the number of clubs that would have closed down.

Be happy with the range of choices players have in this town - its great.

How much did Mappa EFT into your nominated account for that post? :D

Just a tip, blistering leg speed is not required to blanket one D. Hannam - but rat cunning, good timing, and a sharp elbow are critical to a key defender's armory.

FYI - he's asked if its OK to do specialist boxing training, whilst we're doing sprint work. Something about sore hammys I think.....actually, he's trying to become more of a stay-at-home goal-square gorilla in 2008.

A more demanding coach would put a stop to this - pronto.

Word going around the Southern suburbs that mappa may need to find his coaches banking details or a year in the clubbies beckons.

A large primate stay at home FF hmmmmm! (checks magnet board) Chubba, if your reading this, down to full back thanks champ. That should sort him out!

At the risk of being drawn into this conversation of yours, Fraser, is this payback for the singlets !

Parks Victoria may need to widen the running track around Albert Park Lake if last night was any indication, coaches from Ajax, Albert Park and SMD all incorporating a "lake" into training with what looked like plenty of numbers at all clubs. Get Collegians and Powerhouse on for a run as well and we'll need to use the GP track!

FULL BACK! I better start training then. Thanks Harps

The Clearances part of the VAFA website is up and running for 2008 so we will now be able to see at least some of who's coming and going for certain...

Crawl back under your rock you reptile.

By the way you must get rid of that chip you have on both shoulders about the Tigers & get on with your life.
