If it plays well, then I will forgive any licensing issues. It's been a while since the last one, so surely they will have some idea on how to make a playable cricket game.

Playability is not the issue for me.
It's mainly the lack of features.

Really need a MyPlayer or Career type feature. At least a season or something.
If they can't get that, then at least all the official T20 teams.

505 Games publishing? Whelp, no buy from me.

Will look and see how the BigAnt Cricket game comes along, at least that'll have a 10 year career, which I highly doubt Ashes will have (let alone any proper career mode).

That's if BigAnt ever finishes their game.
Been in development for LONG time now.

It's their no.1 title being developed right now. Won't be too long. And will likely be a hell of a lot better than Ashes, with Trickstar most likely sticking to their lame mathematics based development techniques as opposed to the better risk/reward systems.

I hope you're right mate.
But their track record with the AFL release hasn't got my hopes up.

505 Games have released some new info and cover art, surprisingly the game is going to be on WiiU.
http://ps3.mmgn.com/News/ashes-cricket-2013-announced

505 Games has revealed Ashes Cricket 2013 will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows PC and Wii U.
The focus is on the upcoming Ashes series, including the officially licensed Australia and England Test teams. However, short form games are also possible featuring teams from all over the world.
Batsmen have 360 degree control over shot placement, and will face a "new line and length bowling system".
A release date is still unknown, but 505 says it will be out for the start of the back-to-back Ashes series.

"Whether playing on X360, PS3, Wii U or PC, dynamic game play adds variety to each match. Players will have to adapt to varying and altering pitches; whether it’s a green seaming wicket or deteriorating fifth day pitch susceptible to spin and bounce. Weather forecasts will also change, altering the course of the match; overcast conditions will be more conducive to swing, while sunny days are a batsman’s paradise.

ASHES CRICKET 2013 includes a brand new game engine creating a truly authentic gaming experience. Batsmen have 360 degree control over shot placement, requiring impeccable placement and timing to build an innings. A new line and length bowling system gives bowlers the tools to set plans for batsmen throughout a day’s play and players have complete freedom to set a field of their choice. For those who prefer to be led however, there are options for intelligent automatic field placement.

Connoisseurs of the game will be able to play the complete Ashes Series, with official England and Australia teams, however those more interested in the short form of the game can take on the rest of the world in limited overs tournaments and leagues."

That has to be one of the most amateur looking box art's I've ever seen, deplorable.

Not really interested in what this game is going to do if they don't fix the fundamental issues with the AI and poor game math that the game has had for a long time.

I've been moderately following this one and Big Ant's on Planet Cricket forums, and I'm thinking Big Ant's game will have the edge over this one. Of course it'll be hard to know without actually playing but Big Ant's does sound very impressive. Shouldn't be complaining of course but it's kind of annoying how they'll both be hitting the market around the same time.

Bloody hell.... If it's realistic then what hope do we have? Every game will peter out to a boredraw because of the bloody English rain.

Time to go down the pub while the game simulates rain.

It's going to be terrible...

You would think, considering where their studio is location, that they'd be able to walk down to the MCG one day and pick out some pleb Victorian player and ask him to come along to do some mo-cap work for a couple of days in exchange for some payment.

Instead, they get someone who is clearly not a cricketer, to attempt to be a cricketer and end up with shitty animations.

Also seemed fairly light on for animations too, did he really say just 62 minutes of mo-cap animation footage?! And just one guy means that everyone will bowl and bat the same. Disappointing that 14 years on they are still using the same techniques as SWC 99 and it still won't even be that good...
