we can't pay them out due to the soft cap and tax you have to pay
As one of the richest clubs with huge off field benefactors why not just buy up bloody everything and pay the tax. Big NBA teams do it. Big EPL teams just throw that much money at this stuff it’s not funny.

These board members with all the off field currency can surely do something other than sit around a table and shake hands and be proud of the 16 premierships from 100 years ago.

Get the cheque book out. Pay the tax and use 2 times the soft cap to make our program the best in the afl and set a precedent for greatness.

Jordan Russell is still here?

Note to self: All future rumours about Jordan Russell should be taken with a grain of salt.

Not at all surprising given what Wright has said repeatedly about there being limited changes. If we want to understand the internal view on the club's issues, better to look at the club's actions rather than the rumours we hear. I don't buy that the cost of sacking coaching staff would be an obstacle, so that leaves the playing group and football department leadership as the apparent issues.

Never sure about assistant coaches as long as they maintain positive and cohesive relationships, don’t see them as being the reason we ascend.
They would have to be toxic to have any influence at all.
I always groan when the camera pans to the players in their groups, eating snakes and feigning interest in what “message” is being delivered.

I've posted this before but some feedback I've heard is that Jordan Russell is actually well regarded in the coaching circles.

He's not a big fashionable name which is probably why people just assume he's no good.

I am happy to give all our assistant coaches a go. Just feels underwhelming right now. But we’ll see, I guess.

Still waiting for the skills coach to arrive. Should be the 1st one hired along with his team. Big job ahead.

This goes back to the recruiters...

When I hear, 'he needs to work on his kicking', I literally fall off the chair. This was a given 15 years ago, but now it's a 'fixable problem'. I can categorically tell you, it's not and GW comes from the same school of thought!

Polish up skills but never teach is the philosophy. We have too many that just can't do the basics well.

Can't see how any of these changes are an improvement. How does Russell get promoted after he was in charge of our dysfunctional forward line?

Redeployed - maybe development will suit more (he was highly touted for his work before our forwards coach…mind you, none of our recent forward coaches have cracked the code of recent times).

He’s also a great guy and an absolute gentleman away from football … but then I’m biased lol

We are not finished and there has been significant change. Can't blow up the place and many had contracts for next year already in place. New Footy Boss as well who wants to have a look at everything. Wright believes it will take two years to get the Football Dept to where he wants it. There has been a lot of resources added to Development and HP already and some significant restructures

Russell has a great reputation in the AFL coaching ranks and hard to blame just him for forward line issues.

Think people viewed him as an average player so therefore most likely an average coach which in isolation is an irrational view.
