Can’t see us going into 2026 without a senior assistant after the messaging around Voss.

Hopefully we are looking at someone strong tactically that can drive adjustments to our game plan and improve mid/fwd connection.

I’m not as pessimistic about the appointments as others. I think their success will be dependent on the mix of skills as a group which I’ll have to trust Wright and CD have a far better feel for.

By all reports, Hansen and Adams have a tactical mindset so another tactical mind at senior assistant might generate a more complete game plan than what we’ve worked with previously.

Voss has been noted as a strong people leader so having multiple voices within his coaching team that can deliver clear messaging re: tactics can only help.

I just can’t wait for 2027 when Tim Clarke becomes the forwards coach, Ash Hansen the midfield coach, Leigh Adams the backline coach, Liam Truslove the head coach, Michael Voss the VFL coach, Torin Baker the senior assistant and Josh Fraser the ruck coach.

Cats? Did he coach at Geelong. I thought he was only involved at coburg and then north.
He was never involved with the Cats but Im connected through various touch points via what I do / social network around it. Serious stuff not my place or interest to share but stuff like this I ask for a view.

We don’t want Voss coaching our blues full stop. Not even vfl. Best to part ways - hopefully GW has a plan around this in 2026.

Get some good thinkers and good people managers - Fagan exhibition A.

James Kelly could be a dark horse.
Missed out on Melbourne job after reportedly presenting well.
Regarded as high in footy intelligence and communication.
Probably got feedback to get more rounded experience.

No Hickmott, No Lappin, No Giansiracusa, No Skipworth, No Daniel Pratt?

Where is the tactical genius that the club keep indicating we'll introduce?

Good luck to Leigh & Damian - I wish them well but boy...I was expecting a couple more higher profile candidates than this given the language coming from the club post season.

Is this the Voss effect...we can't attract any of the highly regarded assistants out there??

Yet, again feeling a little underwhelmed as a Carlton supporter.
Would be hard to attract any coach with serious ambition to take the next step, we are a sinking ship and inevitably the assistant coaches who get elevated almost always come from premiership teams.

Our coaching panel is uninspiring , a little scary, we seem to have lost quality assistant coaches and replaced them with unheralded types, were definitely on a holding pattern till end 2026. Our President , CEO and Football manger need to be connected and well grounded, not impressed , our pain and misery may continue into 2026.
Lets keep our fingers crossed that Austin is primed and monitored by GW & CD, this trade period is critical.
Perhaps GW is ensuring we have $ left in the soft cap for a high profile coach should we need to move on from Voss.

Just wonder if Voss is wanting few voices challengi by his message and now surrounded himself with some yes men.. This might make the message clearer to the group but won’t help if the message is still wrong.

Carlton moving the deck chairs around was the joke. :p

Why are we a sinking ship??
Newman Smith Cottrell + full seasons from Walsh Kemp McKay
OFarrell later in year
Bigger stronger OKeefe
+ recruits
CC barely turned up
Silvagni 1/2 season
Clean out of disgruntled players
Surely we go into 2026 stronger

It will be different when there is clarity on Voss

Voss has a year to run and it feels very much like he is just serving a purpose next season.
Have to believe Wright has a bigger picture in mind.
Inness and Davies are now on board and Austin began the list renovations 12 months ago.
Rome wasn’t built in a day … but it’s well underway …

Only thing I can think off is a target coach like horse wasnt available atm and Voss is left in charge until that time.

Pretty much,
A long term plan might be in place with 2026 basically used to get our ducks in a row in preparation for launch in 2027.
Wright Davies Austin and Inness already on board.
The playing list rejuvenation began 12 months ago and is in full swing for this trade/draft period and next.
The prospective coach and his chosen assistants will all be in place and ready to go this time next year.
Voss has his strengths and they’ll be needed and used in 2026 but as we now know, it will and has to be … Carlton first !!

I wish the new coaches well and hope like hell they can make a difference but I can’t help but think these appointments are an indication of how the Carlton Football Club is viewed in the industry. We are not viewed as a desirable place for aspiring coaches to go to due to our lack of success and lack of infrastructure.

In the days of Parko we attracted future coaches like Lyon and Worsfold who came to the club because they thought they would learn how to be successful, but now we get the scraps because we’ve been surpassed by Geelong, Collingwood, Hawthorn, Sydney, Brisbane and the like.

There is no chance guys who have made careers out of being good assistant coaches would leave those environments to come to the Blues. Nigel Lappin or Adrian Hickmott aren’t going to leave stable, successful clubs like Geelong or Hawthorn to come to a club that has a history of sacking coaches every 2-3 years and cannot make finals regularly.

Could the solution be to look at a few fresh out of the game?

I will leave the door open for Addams to do well and prove himself with our list. My concern is that North aren't great and their lack of midfield pressure was a talking point all year. We will see if it's just the players.

I absolutely do not think we should go down this route. Id be massively disappointed if this is the plan. Got to be a first time head coach for me.
Yeah no issue with that.

need to find the right one though - enthusiastic, highly motivated and someone who wants to implement a modern game plan.
