It’s clear a deal at AFL House was done for a Buckley as assistant coach at Geelong. Benny Gale puts a call into Andrew Dillon, hey Andy we love Bucks to coach us in 2028 but we need for him to have some recent coaching experience with a top team. Andy Dillon calls Steve Hocking, hey Steve we’ll go easy on you for your recent Salary Cap debacle, but put Bucks on the payroll for two years will you.

I don’t like the notion that just because you haven’t won a flag - it means you don’t know what it takes to win or be successful. Some of the greatest leaders and ruthless competitors never won the ultimate. On the other hand - there are plenty of people who have won flags that I don’t want anywhere near the club
