What are the possibilities of Carlton/Brett Ratten appointing Scott burns as an assistant coach. According to the scribes he is extremely knowledgeable and well respected and he has been coached both by Lethal Leigh and Mighty Mick.....not bad if you ask me. Absolutely nothing wrong with bringing fresh blood and ideas into the club. I say go for it BAGGERS.:thumbsu:

Has been interviewed by West Coast and that looks a probable destination for him.

Blues have definately flagged their interest though.

Just because you have long blonde hair doesn't automatically mean you can pull of bright red latex :p

WEST Coast are almost certain to be the new football home of retired Collingwood captain Scott Burns. Despite being aggressively courted by at least four other clubs, Burns is believed to be close to committing to the Eagles as an assistant coach.

His official decision could be made early next week.

The Eagles made a huge pitch for Burns in grand final week, when they flew him to Perth and dazzled him with presentations on future plans.

West Coast's facilities as well as their ability to commit to a significant wage placed it clearly in front in the race for Burns over three Melbourne-based clubs and at least one in Adelaide.

North Melbourne were extremely keen to add the 33-year-old to Dean Laidley's coaching staff.

Laidley and Roos' chief executive Eugene Arocca developed strong rapports with Burns in previous careers with Collingwood.

Others with past connections with Burns, Carlton's chief executive Greg Swann and Geelong's general manager football operations Neil Balme, also pitched hard.

Port Adelaide also had long-flagged interest in Burns, who played for South Australian club Norwood before heading to Collingwood at pick No.90 in the 1992 national draft.

West Coast have the highest-paid coaching structure in the league, with John Worsfold on a package that has a base of at least $750,000 a year.

It had agreed to pay Michael Voss more than $450,000 a year as an assistant coach from 2009, before Voss accepted the senior role with Brisbane Lions.

Worsfold's long-time assistant Peter Sumich is believed to earn more than $250,000 a year.

Collingwood entertained enticing Burns to stay as an assistant coach, but became aware quickly his preferred path was elsewhere.

"You are Collingwood through and through, but I guess that's the next step and in a lot of ways it's exciting," said Burns after his retirement early last month.

"I've been here for 14 years. This is all I've ever known, so it would be nice to go somewhere different and see how things operate elsewhere."

So where's our apology/refund?
Nobody at Carlton is the Matron at St Joffa's of our Blessed Heart School for Wayward Girls, who can take pity on him and get him a job. Nothing to gain by apologising to us.
