Audio Dropout issue

Hope someone can assist here, driving me crazy, did a search but could not gind any similar threads

Have 5.1 speakers connected to a Panasonic HD recorder via optical cable
HD recorder connected to LCD via HDMI

On the HD recorder settings I have are HDMI for input and Optical for sound

Issue is there is continous audio dropout at 30sec intervals, basically cutting out a word every 30 secs

Any ideas...?
