At last...... some common sense. Aloisi had half an hour to put that thing away.
Muscat is a disgrace to Aussie soccer. They should ban his arse.

Muscats foul was bad but not worthy of a ban. It was bad luck that he did knee but these things happen

That's just wrong. Muscat has a long history of flagrant fouls on opposition stars. He tackled him with his leg high and tanglled himself up in his legs and brought him down. There was definite intent.........there always has with that bastard.
He gives Aussie soccer a bad name and helps to perpetuate our 'amateurish' status.

Agree 100%

Muscat has been a scumbag since his South Melbourne days. Weve always been a dirty footballing nation (Since Frank Arok was our coach), and no wonder no one takes us seriously.

Agree, but...

...he was f*cking pushed in the box! Had to be a bloody penalty...

The Hitman

I agree with most of what's written, Muscat probably shouldn't even be in the team going on last night's form. He turned the ball over 3-4 times to the opposition when under very little pressure, we can't afford that next week no way.

His tackle was amature, his passing poor, I think he'll be lucky to stay in the side.

Aloisi should've gotten a penalty but then he should've scored too.

Overall though an excellent warm-up for the next 2 weeks, Kewell scores the volley, Emmo slots the walk up, Aloisi gets the penalty and it might've been ugly, not many sides have been able to play with France like that. Kewell's just a dead-set gun.

I'd agree there.

France just waltzed down the left all night. Part of this was Emerton fault, but he was just trying to get forward and give some service to the invisible man in No 9.

He did leave Muscat a little exposed (Laza helped out Vidmar very well on the right), but Muscat was abused by Zidane. Zizou was obstensibly playing in the centre of the park, but he picked his mark early and basically played as a left wing for much of the night. Wiltord did the same when he came on.

Not only did he stink defensively, but his passing was shoddy and teamwork lax.

I don't know what our options are at right back, but hopefully there's a better prospect than Muscat.

Kewell wasn't exactly the most defensive on Karembeu either, I haven't seen any articles or watched any replays yet but given that Kewell had to push back to help provide cover it seemed like every time France went forward, it left the blackfella free to launch many an attack. I'm not sure we'll have the same problems with Uruguay if that's who we play, they're best midfielder (Recoba) has been banned and I'm not sure if he'll be allowed to play for these games. Does anyone know if the Recoba ban is still in effect for these games?

Sorry Hitter ... but i agree with QT and Santos. Aloisi had an eternity to put that ball in the back of the net and fluffed it. Any decent stricker would have put it away ... Aloisi decided to do an Ortega and fall over! :)

A draw is a fair result in what was a far from spectacular game ... albeit the conditions didn't help.

If we play like we did last night I think we will cruise past Uruguay. Kewell is a terrific player and Viduka is not likely to play that poorly again. I also think Schwarzer is in great form and Lazaridis was terrific last night. There weren't many weak links.
Even if we play Brazil if we were to play like that we would have to have show

Santos - go easy on Muscat - nothing wrong with a bit of mongrel

Steven Gerrard does worse tackles than that almost every week but no-one is aking for him to be banned.

It was just unlucky he did his knee

Muscat will stay in the side in my view

We held the world champions to a 1-1 draw and should have had a penalty at the end. THe fact that Alosi should have put it away is neither here nor there, It was a foul.

Kewell and Emerton were a delight to watch and the back four were very very good.

I think Kewell has to play wide on the left and use two strikers.

This means Okon and Skoko have to be very defensive as we can't have too many players going forward all the time

We looked really quick and dangerous on the break

Bring on next Tuesday!

Recoba's club ban was lifted late last week. He would've been able to play for his country regardless of the club ban. He'll most likely play on the left side of midfield. He has made champions look silly, i can only imagine what he'll do to Kevin Muscat. :(

Great, just great. Recoba is a gun. Oh well we'll just have to do our best and hope Muscat or whoever comes on for him can limit his influence.

Come off it mate,
its besides the point if he took an eternity or not.

The fact is that Slyvester knew that Alosi would either score or there would be a penality, when he blantley pushed him off the ball in the box. Yet the referee was too gutless to take the whistle out of his arse.

Alosi could of taken all day if he wanted, but you can't make a referee decision based on whether he took an eternity or not! You have to play by the laws of the game...
cheers...

Ummm, where the hell was Viduka last night???

Viduka never plays well for Australia. Its sad, because he obviously enjoys it.
